Nominations for best Controllers

All the controllers at GFK (that I've seen) are really awesome. Anybody who can handle that many planes (many of them students who dont quite know what's goin on yet) and not start spouting off profanities into the mic is ok in my book. Always do a great job giving us VFR traffic advisories even though they dont have to.

Yeah, the controllers at GFK are all pretty cool and seem really understanding especially considering the high volume of student traffic. Sometimes when its really busy the approach/departure controllers can get a little cranky tho.

yeah, that's cause they're in the air force and they got stationed in GFK ;-)

There is a lady in the high altitude sector of Kansas City who doesn't know where she is - she always answers "Kahnsas City Center."

I finally figured out the accent - VALLEY GIRL!

Although I havent experiened any other controllers, I really like the controllers at KAGC- allegheny county. They seem to be very forgiving, especially when students like myself botch a radio call /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We're discounting your vote, Surf. You missed the point of the thread: I said that my favorite controllers were in FAT . . . and therefore, so are YOURS! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good to hear from you. Hope all is well out there on the West Coast. I'm diggin' the Midwest. It's good to be home. Sorry we never met in person. Closest I got was seeing JD hop into the Seneca and taxi out when you swung by Mazzei on your way to Tahoe . . .

Wannabepilot... do you by chance do your training with PFTC? I have a friend that does his training over there. Nice facility, I am going to try to get on there as a CFI in August.

anyone familiar with the "good-day ya'll" controller at ABQ center? There is also a controller at abq center that enjoys speaking spanish with the Mexicana pilots..

A new nomination!

The GRR approach controllers are pretty cool, too. "1WU, radar contact. Here at Grand Rapids, we're currently advertising the ILS on 35 and 8R, though we also encourage special requests." Great humor while doing a serious job.

I don't know how many of you go into LGA on a regular basis, but my vote goes to Franklin on Clearence Delivery. Anyone who has been in there knows who this guy is. Talks very slow and always wants your gate number. He's awesome though. I also like "Mr. Happy Landings" on Washington Center.

there is a new woman in manassas(khef) who is really good. very proffessional. you would think you were 15 miles to the north at Dulles. she is on top of her game always and i find myself hanging around for a few extra touch and goes when i get back and shes on frequency. On the other hand last nights ifr x-c from hef to RIC put me on a collision course with a grumpy old approach controller on potomac 120.45. we requested the ils to 16l since we were in actual conditions and knew we could fly the approach in clouds most of teh way. well, he took it upon himself to put us down to mva and demand we call the field.."surely you must have the field, its 6 miles 12:00." we thought we had it, but werent sure...but knew what he was trying to do since we were below the gs intercept alt. so, we called the field and left rather p-o'ed. oh well.

Yep! Let me know if youre in!!!!

I have to agree. He was at Stocton App before NORCAL. I was flying to SMF and that guy was great.

I vote for Elmer Fudd on NORCAL approach, he sounds exactly like elmer fudd, but gets the job done.

Just from listening to ATC live feeds on line, but my vote goes to a guy at BOS ground/tower, who is always saying "Asta La Vista!" - female pilots got "Asta La Vista, baby!"and "Mocca Hagadi" was the welcome greeting.(I know this stands for something but can't remember what). Anyway, even when the delays were mounting with groundstops to almost everywhere, and the arrival rush was on as well, he still kept everyone in a very good mood. He also had one of the clearest radio voices and nicest manners I've ever heard.

I've always enjoyed going to GRR, there's one controller in particular (older sounding male) that'll do whatever it takes to meet your request.

I also heard about the seductive controller in Addison from my first instructor, I'll have to make it down there sometime.

What about the ATC at Pearson International Airport its in Toronto Canada is that a good Control ???? Any pilots landed in that Airport??

I dont remember anything different about it, except the controllers allways threw in a "Roger" after the fact...came out as "Cher". Oh, and that whole, you have traffic ABOAT 12 oclock etc etc....

There is one guy on IAH tracon who everyone calls Mr Happy, also his partners in crime there that says jetlinking to the express guys. Also the guy that calls the different 737 different makes of a Hoover vac. They always seem to be in a good mood no matter what the conditions are like. NY Tracon also for the amount of traffic being moved around for the 3 major airports plus a host of others. There was a couple of guys at CLE tracon that were awesome.
