No luck finding first dispatch job

I applied to every single regional on the spreadsheet . Half sent me a email saying " we decided to proceed with other candidates ". The other half haven't contacted me at.
I don't have an impressive resume , I joined the military when I was 18 and that's about it . I'm 23 now

Ok, first thing's first. Keep your head up, there absolutely is an airline that will take you. Second, I will say that your 5 years of military experience is NOT nothing, and in fact I would imagine is attractive to employers.

I'm no HR expert, but your resume (the actual document) can make or break you, so make sure that it is clean, concise and overall professional looking. With a quick Google search, I found a service that specializes in resumes for veterans. Here is the link:

I might add that if you do not already have a cover letter, spending a little more to have them write one for you may be worth it.

Additionally, I highly recommend you continue to cast a wide net, and that may mean looking at part 135 operators as well. There are quite a few of them and they're always hiring.

Lastly, you might consider looking at starting out in a non dispatcher role within the airlines. Even if it means crew scheduling, aircraft routing, working the ramp; whatever. Airline ops experience regardless of position has a lot of value and just getting a foot in the door would help a ton down the road. Just something to consider.

Overall, just know that you will be alright and you will find something that's a good fit. I'm sorry you are having trouble right now, but keep the faith! If you have any more questions feel free to message me. I have a lot of experience applying to airlines and I'd be happy to help you out however I can.

Allow me to start with some self-confidence boost: "I do not have an impressive resume" is not at all helpful. Resume building comes from experience, be it working for a business, or simply driving for a businessman..whatever your experience may be. If that isn't a strong focus, what about education? Collegiate experience, maybe, but what about clubs? How about Boy Scouts, or -- As you have already pointed out -- Military? Hobbies or community service?

We all have stories to tell - And we all start telling them somewhere. For my fellow FAR 121 dispatchers, I love listening to anecdotal tales of ramp and deicing horror. The ramp has so many tales you could seriously make it episodic. So, as it's been suggested by other posters up above, start at the baseline. Build up the aviation lifestyle -- and you may meet some characters at your local FBO who may need a flight follower. FAR 91/135 is where some of us have started. Don't kick yourself if you're feeling like this round wasn't yours. Trust me. The music is still playing.

Good luck.

Frontier is hiring people with less than a month of experience. The contract situation is making staffing a problem, however that will change within a year

If you went to a school to get your license (IFOD, Jepp, Sheffield, etc) contact them and maybe they can help you.

Also being ex-military myself, your military service should actually help unless you were discharged "under less than honorable" conditions.

Emphasize your strentghs, what can you bring to the employer? What extra duties did you have? Leadership abilities? Can you quantify the results of what you accomplished. As previously stated, you might consider a resume service.

There are many routes to get to your goal. No matter which one you end up on, do your best and learn as much as you can in each position. Show each employer that they were not wrong in hiring you.

Get this book. Best investment you'll ever make. The one for interviews is also excellent. Totally changed my career and other's that have read it.

I know SkyWest will be hiring again in the next couple months. If you want, I could help you with your resume as well. They're pretty decent about interviewing almost all applicants from what I've seen/heard.
They are also hiring for crew scheduling right now as well if you want to get your foot in the door that way.

Apply to flexjet, jet suite x, netjets, Omni, Allegiant, Empire, mountain air cargo, key lime, spirit, Avelo, sun country, cape air, I fly southern. Or apply to crew scheduling to the places you’d like to go and start out there.

Like the previous poster said get a professional resume.
I am prior military also. I took a job in crew scheduling to get my first dispatch job. Sometimes you just have to get your foot in the door.

Hey guys , i appreciate all the responses. One of dispatchers in this thread sent my resume to their manager . Not only did i do my interview today I also got the job offer . This community is awesome and I can’t wait to pay it forward.

Yes, indeed there are good people in this forum that are quite helpful to complete strangers. Good to know this type of behavior is still alive and well.
