No longer an airline pilot

Today I resigned from Comair after 5 months of flying for them. The commuting, the leaving 1-2 days before my trips to make my show time, the being off only 7 days a month on reserve, never seeing the family, commuting to CVG for scheduling to call me to say the trip is cancelled. That is what I could not stand for 20G a year. I worked hard to get there and I realized that I would rather do 135 or instruct and be home. All the BS that a pilot has to go through in order to do 121 is not worth it. Single with no responsibilities?, it would be better but not much. It doesn't even feel like you are flying! End of rant! For you MARK!
 
Bro congrats! At least you realized what you need for you and to make YOU happy and that's what its all about. If its not Comair and you arent happy then congrats for realizing it now and doing what you have to do for YOURSELF and your family!

Keep in there and things will work out!
 
Hey that's too bad. I know my airline gives 11 days off to reserves in a 30 day bid period and 12 days off in a 31 day.

Good luck with whatever you do.
 
Its always been a worry of mine. To dream about this job and then despise it after a while.

You had to leave so early for the short hop to CVG? I would think that there would be tons of flights a day through there, no?
 
Good for you. You learned first hand that this is not the glamorous life some make it out to be. I hope you find something that makes you happy as we all deserve some peace and joy in our lives.

No offense to any of ya but looking back through someones history of posting it seems like we all have had a little bad form. That going from just a junior member all the way up to administrator. No offense but i couldnt believe some of the post by people in the past for Buffalopilot....

Just look through his past threads and you will know what i am talking about!
 
Umm, so what are your plans now? You can't tell us you quit this job and not tell us where you're headed.

You can't be serious about going back to flight instructing? :confused:

Buffalopilot. You have quite the history at this site. It would be great if you'd sit down and say "if I had it to do over again, I'd do this" or "these are the mistakes I made"...

You, of all people, couldn't possibly say you went into this without some input from folks who have been there. As I recall, there was a lot of it...

Good luck to you. Now let some others learn from your experience.

Where do you live? Are you and your family opposed to moving? I think you might like the job more if you worked somewhere with a decent amount of guaranteed days off and didn't have to commute. I feel your pain and I can't imagine how hard this lifestyle must be for those with families. Best of luck, and I respect that you weren't willing to sacrifice your happiness for 20g and a jet.

Yea, I'm one of those people. You read his history on JC, it wasn't always rosey and somethings needed to have been said, and I said em.

But having said all that I never wished ill on the dude. I'd wished him much success in life at whatever he does.

But I'd not cheer at his downfall.
 
I really wouldn't call it a downfall, it's a change in perspective to find a better place. there's nothing worse than being unhappy in what your doing...if you actually learn from that experience then your much better for it down the line.

I'm like DE727UPS, i'd like to hear the story.. what BP learned, experience etc so everyone can learn and know one persons perspective on why the change happened...
