Delta Airline's new uniforms make their debut in the Big Apple

those are F/A uniforms....I do see some protesting coming up! hahaha

I highly doubt the F/A's are going to like THAT! they shouldn't be designing for "model"figures!

Yeah, my feet are far too flat to fit in the pointy shoes. Plus, where would I ever find burnt sienna hoisery to match my skin tone?

i thought they were supposed to have "go-go" boots doug? hahahaha

i couldn't wear those shoes for hours at a time, i dunno how those girls are gonna do it! plus, aren't they always supposed to wear rubber sole'd shoes? how's that going to work?

I have to admit, i do like the color but i don't think i'll like sitting next to a passenger that's drooling about the "plunging neckline".

There are like three or four different types of uniforms currently, but that's probably one of four or five different options. If, in fact, it's really a 'final' design.

Before you folks start drooling, remember, with the exception of our own MQ, most FAs do not look like models.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

They should have had an 80-year old grandma model those uniforms. Would have produced a much more realistic "effect."

They're stylish, I'll give it that.

But...........

They're made of taffeta, which is not the easiest-wearing material in the world. It tends to be hot, easily wrinkled, dry clean only, stains easily, and is quite stiff with no 'give'. Fine for formal wear, not so appropriate for uniforms that one has to wear for 12 hours everyday.

That dress appears to be rather low-cut. Again, fine for formal wear, but might give passengers more of a view than some passengers really want. (As stated above, keeping in mind that a great majority of F/As don't moonlight as runway models.)

Most F/As aren't 6'0" with no figure. I howl with laughter to picture myself in that uniform right now, I wonder what their 'maternity' version looks like!

I kind prefer the early 1990's look. The current uniform, if worn well, looks pretty good.

But I'm the type of person that instead of hiring some big expensive fashion designer and paying him $2 million, just have a 'contest' of sorts in the in flight department to see who can design the best uniform.

Most people forget that there's a lot of pre-existing talent already at the airline, many people may have fashion experience, but also a good grip on reality as well.

The designer may have made clothes for "Sex In the City" and a bunch of other high profile stars, but they're not working 7 legs a day pushing a cart through a narrow aisle, and having to pack it all in a 23" TravelPro.

I'm just glad I'm not there to hear all the bitching and moaning that comes with every uniform change.

Yeah, there's always the complaints of having new uniforms.

I was at Eagle in 1997 when AMR switched uniforms from the ones like I'm wearing in my avatar to the current (what I dubbed 'cadillac-emblem') uniforms. Thankfully it was a relativly minor change, in that the pants & skirts did not change at all, the vests had minor tailoring changes, and all the jackets needed were new stripes. The only BIG changes were the shirts and the new dress. Of course we had our complaints. When one has to wear the same thing day in day out 12 hours a day it's easy to nit-pick!

I wonder if they had any 'real' flight attendants giving feedback about the fit & wear/workability of these new DL uniforms. They just don't appear to be very condusive to cramming stuff in overheads, reaching, bending, streching, galley work, etc.

Oh well, I don't have to wear it!

What are the male F/As going to wear?

That is a very good question!

(Not many of the guys have the legs to make that dress work

As much as I would like some hot young flight attendant wearing this....

Have you seen some of the flight attendants at Delta and the other legacy carriers? They are about as hot as...well you fill in the blank. It is all about seniority and some of them are SENIOR. Can you picture this? It is not a pretty picture. In fact it could cause cardiac arrest in certain fragile people.

Something like this might work in some corporate flight departments.

I will have to bring this up to the chief pilot and see if we can get this on the fast track.
