...an FA brings a bottle/wine opener through the scanner, and puts it in the x-ray machine. It wasn't confiscated. But hell hath no fury if Les Abend tries to bring a bottle of steak sauce through the security line. They'll take that away because it could be a threat!
The wife and I took a road trip a month or so ago. We bought a bottle of wine to have with dinner in the hotel and we didn't have a cork screw. Ran out to the store and bought one. Anyway, point of the story, I forgot it in my suitcase. So a few weeks later while going through security, my bag is the only one going through the x-ray machine. "Bag check!".
"Sir, do you have anything in this bag that might hurt me?"
"No, my laundry is clean."
At this point, I have absolutely zero idea what they might have found so I stand and watch, very much entertained. She takes lots of stuff out, keeps looking, finally gives it up and sends it through the x-ray again. It comes out, she looks again...can't find it. I ask "Am I allowed to ask what you're looking for so I can maybe point you in the right direction?"
She says its a cork screw, I remember it, pull it out of the side pocket. The best part is I pulled up my schedule and my bag had been screened by the TSA 10 times in various cities without anyone saying a thing.
All this was of course in uniform.
