NIFA national competition

LETU got first in the CRM event!

I just got back from Nationals. Wasn't run that smoothly towards the end. The NIFA business meeting at the end took 3 hours and got nothing done. Several teams wanted By-law changes that were already being handled by a by-law committee but thought they knew better than the committee. Lots of arguing about nothing.

Overall it was still a pretty good competition.

If it's anything like it used to be, it's because of a lack of communication between the committee and the teams.

There's supposed to be communication between committees and teams?

First business meeting?

They're all like that, but trust me it's worth it.

It wasn't run smoothly at the beginning either...the rec test was FUBAR.

It also seemed that the scoring was very inconsistant. We compared our answers after recieving the tests back, and some were marked correct while other were marked incorrect when they were the same answer. Very dissapointed.

That happens all the time too and it happens to everyone so don't let it get to you.

Just getting everybody into the room for REC was a mess! As for the business meeting, well that was interesting and a big waste of time. It wasn't the smoothest competition, but it could have been worse. Congrats to everybody who competed! :rawk:

The last nationals I went to 13 pages of the SCAN supplement were missing... someone had to run out to Kinkos at 9:30pm and make 13 color copies for 150 people ;) I can only imagine what that must have cost! In the meantime we were sequestered in the test room and not allowed to talk to each other.

I got out of it, though, as I was called out to do a tie breaker for Aircraft Rec... which I lost, setting me at 21st place... doh :P
