Well just got my new Flying magazine in the mail and saw the DCA ad.

Train Smart Trust the Experts.

Even Delta was so convinced we are the best flight school, they Bought Us!

Being Owned by Delta Means Everything!

Pilot positions are RESERVED for Academy graduates, After all, we have the connections.

Come on guys your ads just get funnier and funnier every time you put a new one out.

I agree, but Tracy is not stupid. Marketing works; it is a business.

Just another indication that there is no real connection between Delta and Comair Academy. We haven't had anybody doing marketing at mainline in several years!

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you wrote. DCA is owned by Comair (the airline), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines. There exists agreements between DCA and all the connection carriers they list on the magazine ad to interview CFIs who completed the program for pilot positions with their airlines. Indeed, there are aspects of the DCA that Delta Airlines oversees and provides support. So, I would say there is at least the appearance of a connection .

Have you ever noticed Westwinds ads in the mags? They show a CRJ/ERJ or what ever SIM with a glass cockpit AND THEY HAVE NOTHING OF THE SORT AT THERE SCHOOL. This is why I try to help guide these poor green pre-privates when they inquire about schools on JC. These kids will believe anything they are told and schools like Westwind are banking on it.

Have you ever noticed that Flight Safety's ads never promise anything? The only thing they gaurantee is good quality training with the best equipment and SIMS money can buy.

I like an honest school...ILS

Sorry for the confusion

Like JAM said, the school is owned by Comair, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta. Most people don't know who Comair is, so in order to grab their attention, you have to use something that they do know, such as Delta Airlines. Albeit that Delta mainline has little to do with DCA, there is still a connection. I don't like the use of guaranteed spots, but it grabs the attention of the reader and peaks their interest. Once they come down to visit the school they'll get the real skinny on how it really works. Then it's up to them to decide if they want to enroll or not.

I didn't get "the real skinny on how it really works" when I took my tour. I was fed even more BS. It was this forum that told me how it actually works.

instead of deceiving students and making them wait till Sanford to get "the real skinny" why dont they just be truthful and quit blowin sunshine up peoples arses with their ads.

Flight Safety seems to be quite sucessful with enrollement and you dont see them using shady advertisements. (since DCA staff obviously reads this board maybe you guys need to take a hint)

Flyguy, sorry that you didn't get any true answers when you toured. I made sure to walk off on my own and asks students what they thought. And of course I learned a lot from this forum. That's why I post my experiences here. No candy coating. What ever happens is what you read. I want people to see how it realy is at DCA, not what the admissions people want you to hear. The school has it's good points as well as it's bad points. Yes it is expensive, but the training is excellant. DCA isn't for everyone and it shouldn't be. There are a lot of other great schools out there with great programs. Sierra is a great place and has a good program. I was going to go there, but the Bay Area is a little too pricey since I have my family with me. Good luck with your training.

To be honest Montanapilot, when I enrolled I thought the same way, until people started to get hired by Comair and Chautauqua. We've lost a lot of our senior pilots to them this year.

The other sde of the coin is that people that cannot deliver cannot promise...

<Disclaimer... I am an instructor at the SFB location of Delta Connection Academy>
Fabio, let's not forget about Skywest and ASA who recently hired some instructors. Oh yeh, Skyway came to Sanford to interview. Weren't there 8 people they hired on the spot to start the next week?? From what I hear, Skyway is a great route too.
