NFOs to instruct in T-45s in USN

Ok, I was reading between the lines, based on your comments I posted above, especially the first one. I do think I can be forgiven for the sensitivity, as they could be interpreted in that way. They have a different and important job to do, and mutual respect and teamwork is required to maximize the effectiveness of that weapon system. I have seen some one anchor - two anchor rivalry BS that if taken to the plane will kill a crew's effectiveness.

I can't say I disagree with your training views, except that I think they could in certain scenarios do an adequate job. Your views on training certainly do not offend me.

BTW,an E2 NFO is an entirely, and I mean entirely different bird than a landbased or tacair flavor.

Remember, I'm basing my opinion soley on flight training. When it comes to utilizing a weapon system, such as the Rhino F, then the WSO is essential to that. The T-XX aircraft are not weapon systems but training aircraft and need the appropriate person in the back or right seat.

As a whole, the E-2 NFO community seemingly likes pain. I've spent some time around the tactical NFO community and it is way different. You have your single individuals who are painful...there was an XO/CO of a Prowler squadron in 05/06 with CVW2 who was just that, painful. Overall, always loved the tactical FO community.

I don't think INFO's in the T-45 is that big of a deal. I agree having a pilot in the back seat would be better and I hope the SNAs don't lose a bunch of solo flights that now have INFOs in their back seat. The problem is the stigma SNAs have about NFOs from the bashing that goes on from folks that didn't have positive experiences with the NFOs in their squadrons (or from single seat guys). No, I'm not a former NFO. I flew 18Fs and was a 18E/F RAG IP and T-45 IP.
I think Student NFOs would receive better training if they were in Meridian/Kville flying in the backseat of Leads. I'm surprised there isn't a push for that because of the $ it would save.
