Couple of questions on the NewsBot. I've noticed that the NewsBot is about as reliable as a 1976 Ford Pinto as of late. Problems:

1. Repeated postings of the same news story at the same time.

2. The few times I've clicked the link to actually read a story, the link doesn't work. Other users have had the same problem, I believe.

3. News stories that have nothing to do with the forum section its dedicated to.....ie- Airline news appearing in the ATC forum.

Does the NewsBot have to go to the boneyard? :D
 
I probably need to re-do the RSS feeds when I get home today. They generally don't show up in the "New Posts" listing so I've largely stopped checking to see if it's working well or not.

Add one to the 'to do' list! :)

If you check out the Airline News forum, you'll see it's reported the "FAA to lay off 100 Weather people" story....the same exact story.......4 times already, as well as the "CA ATC facilities staffed by trainees" story....the same exact story....4 times in a row.

Not to mention the same story in multiple forums, as well as news stories that have nothing to do with the forum they're put into....and repeated!

Kill the Newsbot!
 
No... he's our "not so news but interesting news "bot" "


anyways, if it doesn't get fixed, i suggest doug get massive PMs from those who care so he puts it on his high priority list.
 
Can't view newsbot threads in military forum...

Tried clickiing on any of the newsbot thread in the military forum and got nothing. Any ideas?

See above. Same tech problems that are being worked. No completion time avail yet though.

I think the RSS feeds are a little scarily indicative of the turmoil with the newspapers...

Yes, check out the ATC forum for example. The last "hit" of NewsBot stories that came at once....Ten of them...Seven are of the same news story or are the same story, and 3 are of another of the same story.

The sources used to be a bit more independent, but let me try and refine some of the characteristics and see what happens.
