Newbiee questions.

So im an Aircraft Mechanic in the Air Force and have always wanted to fly. I have my CCAF in Aircraft Maintenace and thinkng about using my GI bill to go to Embry Riddle. I have heard alot of things about the lifestyle of a pilot. I just had a few questions. Are there still certifications and what not that I would have to aquire after I graduate or would I get the majority of what i need from school? Is it really that hard being married? How is the job market for pilots now adays? I also hear that you really go into dept trying to get all your certifications.

I don't have any experience but I know that there are NO jobs. I thought I wanted to be a pilot when I was younger, but I decided I'd just get a job that paid decently and fly as a hobby.
 
Currently, the job market is EXTREMELY tight, but that is due to the economy. You have to look around to find the jobs, but they ARE there.

If you are considering going to Riddle, are you going just to fly, or for a degree as well?

If it's for the degree, by all means go for it! You'll be there a couple years, and I really loved the environment when I was there. In that time, the economy should (hopefully) stablize, and jobs will open up again. Be willing to get an Instructors rating as well. (Riddle instructors in the past only stayed about 6 months)

If it is just for the flying, you might want to hold off for a litte while. The training is excellent, standards are high, and they are expensive. These people provide excellent equipment, think G1000 in most of the aircraft, and state-of-the-art simulators. You want a stable economy, and a good likelihood for an immediate job after finishing.
