New written at ASA interview

Anyone know anything about the new written at ASA? They said day 1 would be 2 written exams and the tech and HR interview. Any other advice from folks who recently went to the interview? I'm a little nervous after reading about the JC'er who went and was turned down in one day then went to AWAC (congrats BTW :)). Any help is appreciated!
 
One is a tabular speed test not difficult at all. Other one is a 30 question aviation test on real basic IFR stuff. (Holding altitudes etc.) Those tests are a joke. What you should focus on is the one on one interview with an ASA captain. The gouge on aviationinterviews.com should prepare you for it perfectly.

Heres my navy blue suit..... :D What does one have to do NOT to be invited for the sim the next day aside from fail writtens and tech 777? Like I said, I'm a little nervous about the one guy here who did not get the invite and never knew why. Also, they asked about speeding tickets and also put it in the application so they know. But will that affect anything in the interview or since I got the interview to begin with is it not that big a deal?
 
if you fail either of the written tests or the one on ones with a captain then you won't be invited back.

I've got a nice assortment of documents that yield themselves to successfully passing ANY of the "questionnaires" provided during the "selection process."

When you looking to interview?



questionnaire = written(s), selection process = interview process.

oh i just noticed that you said aside from...hehe, there's nothing else you can mess up unless you yell at the secretary or something :)
 
Yeah I am the JCer who got turned down in a day and went to AWAC. I listened to everone else and studied for the test but didn't stress over it...I just really prepared for the one on one interview.....

Kinda hard to get the job when the one on one interview wasn't even an interview...it was a review of the paperwork I sent in and that was it so all they had was my written test.

Oh well, besides not being able to fly the -700 or living in my homestate instead of commuting, I am so glad it happened how it did. I could not be happier at AWAC. CHEERS
 
There is talk of either not having a written at all or rewriting a new one. I recently interviewed there on the 24th, that is when they told me about it, but I did take the written. You can find most of the current questions on airlineinterviews.com.
 
I think ASA seems like a rally good company with a high ceiling and a lot of good pilots; That being said, the tabular test is the stupidest thing known to man. In either case, I went to the interview and scored a 100% on my written knowledge test which was no big deal. Did very well on my oral which was about 2 hours long, and was turned away due to the tab speed test which was I don't think has anything to do with anything and the impression I got was that the interviewers and recruiters agreed. Anyway, my interviewer was going to talk to the big guys upstairs about making an exception but apparently (though not surprising) nothing came of it. Not angry at ASA or anything like that and I think I have a better gig here at PSA because I don't have to commute but either way, it's a bad test and turns away MANY good pilots over something non-aviation related, BUT just my .02 cents :bandit:

The tabular speed test is a bunch of psycho-babble, but if ASA turns you down because of it or other reasons (violations, failed check-rides, etc) and you have good references, take some time to pursue them. ASA will not check your references unless you send them in yourself. Good luck with PSA! QOL definitely goes up without the commute!
