New Us Airways livery to be introduced Aug 23rd

I'm all for going back to the bare metal look. I've seen the 737 with the usairways.com logo several times at MCO.

Yeah, I can deal with bare metal

Wel, it's here.

Over all I like it. It's nice they put the flag logo on the winglets. Would like it more if they blended the tail color into the white a little bit, but that's probably expensive. Oh, and no smile. In fact, the red line running to the front looks more like a frown.

I only like it because it looks like a paint job and not some super basic scheme with the logo slapped on.

Well I personally think it looks great. Very patriotic. Now, we'll see how this merger works out and the future of the airline stands.

Interesting.... If you look at this picture I think it looks even better. Strange that witha solid sky background it looks much nicer. Sorry to spam this post a bit... I'm stuck sitting in my hotel room with nothing to do as my sim session for today was postponed. That good I've got high speed in here.

I do like that picture better. With the first pic it looked like the tail was exactly the same as it is now, but in pic 2 i see they added a little to it. Also if you look on the door there is a "history" lesson of the former airlines of USAir.

Cool! I love that idea. And I think the new paint job looks great.

My only question is how long will it take for them to do the ENTIRE fleet like that? If they drag it out forever it will just hurt them as customer will be confused as to who they are actually flying on. I guess right now you can get either a US aircraft, an America West aircraft, or this new thing.

You should have seen some of the people here in Denver when United started up Turd, and then changed their colors to that new white thing from the battleship grey.

I wish them luck though, hopefully this helps get USair going on the right track again.

I think it looks good now that I've seen the photo. How is United doing with their fleet repaints, almost done? (Yes, I do know that this post is not about United.)

Ha, I think United might have 10% repainted. They are only repainting them when they go in for heavy mx. Their regional carriers seem to be doing pretty good with it though. I do think it has something to do with the fact that all the a/c that have been delivered in the past year have been delivered in the new colors though. Not sure how many of them are being repainted really. When I was at DIA a few weeks ago I only saw one out of about 30 UA birds in new colors. RJs were all in new colors though.

I do agree about the America West colors needing to go first. Too confusing. I bet it will take at least 3 years though till they are all in one color.

Don't mean to change airlines again, but if you want to talk about ugly look at Delta. I hate that new paint scheme. The old colors were classic.

Shouldn't an airpline that has had to ask employees for wage consessions and been in bankruptcy as many times as US Air concentrate a bit more on making a profit vice new paint jobs????

I'd be pissed to be a US Air employee who agreed to wage cuts so that managment could re-decorate.

Well, you know I'm very willing to criticize management, but I will stick up for them here.

Those planes were going to be repainted anyway during the heavy maintenance. So, it's not like you're spending any additional money on it.

Plus, on top of that it is critical that if you're creating a new airline, you do what you can to create branding and name recognition. Livery's a great way to do that, especially if you do it when they come in for heavy maintenance.
