Only problem with all that glass, is the same problem we have with our glass. The lowest brightness setting isn't low enough not to destroy your night vision. And with the typical mission of an otter, it's really really helpful to have your night vision.

As stated, the new Otter is decked with Honeywell. On the Garmin, however, there are a couple ways to change the screen brightness default dim setting. One is pilot accessible, the better (permanent) one is Mx accessible. Work with your Mx to lower the default dim, 'cause you're right, the factory default is way too bright.

At 0.1%, the lowest available setting, it is too bright. Same on the 530 stack, at 0001, too bright.

Then you will need to have the Mxs or avionics shop go into the Mx settings area (double secret probation area of the box) and change the internal settings, where I believe you can take default dim all the way to black.

Interesting. Sometimes I find our 530s are a little dark sometimes. Our GMX200 gets really dark.
One of my complaints about the 530 is the dimmer was created by an engineer and not a pilot. There are what? 1000 steps of resolution between max bright and full dim? 30 would have been fine, thanks. I wonder if the engineer caught his wife in bed with a pilot. "I'll give you something to fiddle with!"
