New Stretched, Re-engined ATR in the Works?

Having spent most of my career in front of Pratts of one form or another, the only mystery is why they went with their oil quantity indication system....

IE, if it isn't any leaking on you, you should add some. Guess they carried it over from their recip days.

Richman
Pratt logic: pressurize the oil tank so every little seep turns into a full on leak.

Garret logic: draw a vacuum on everything so unless there are gaping holes in the gear case you won't see any oil leakage.

They should go back to metros!
Haha, god dammit, no!!! :)

Saab 340/2000s and Dorniers were always my favorite. Mostly because the beta noises from those things were ridiculous.

I've always been kind of curious what a stretched and re-engined/straked prop(correct term?) 120 would do. They seem to look the most sleak and IIRC, it was faster than the original dash 8s and 340s but was never more developed much after it was introduced. I think...

No, they're trying to be successful! :)
I can picture it right now. SJI new aircraft acquisition team meeting-a guy in back(an ex P-3 driver) raises his hand and says, ya know what we really need is another Lockheed Electra, you know 'bout a hundred seats, turboprop, just more modern--blank stares.
