new plan

i've been doing a lot of thinking lately and have decided to change my major before i even start school, which also means that i will only be at UND for my freshman year. last year i didnt even want to go to college, so i just dived right into without really thinking it over. I made a huge mistake by applying to only one school, just because i was so fixated on becoming a pilot. i do love aviation, and i will eventually get some ratings, but i'm not going to spend my college years doing so. instead i'm going to do economics, which will leave me more choices in terms of jobs after college. so thats my new plan.

questions, comments, concerns??

I'm an econ major myself. It will give me many options when I finish. At the top of my list is starting my own business.

To each, his own, man! Whatever works out best for you! After community college, I graduated after 2 1/2 years at Embry Riddle, and will take my commercial checkride next week sometime. After all that, I'm seriously considering going back to school for either anesthesiology or architecture. Big $$$, no wammy, STOP! but I think it'll be best for me, with the stuff I value in MY life.

So only you can say what works, and just give it your best shot! Best of luck to ya!

Dude! Don't come to UND to do Economics, stay at home, go to an in-state college, save money and get your degree in Econ. Go to your local FBO/flight school to get your ratings.

Andrew, if I were you, I wouldn't waste your time and money here because you're not sure if this school has what you require out of your education. I'd go to a community college FIRST if I were in your shoes. Community college is great because it's inexpensive and you can get a feel for multiple subjects and areas of interest before you decide what you want to major in. This way you don't necessarily have to commit to a 4-year University that may or may not offer you the good program for the degree you want.

Google "Press Your Luck"...

It was actually a gameshow back when you were a little younger :p
Ah, O.K. Google tells me it was a daytime game show, and looking at the dates I had already been in the work force for quite a few years by the time it aired. I probably never saw it or even heard about it. Too busy supporting myself via legitimate means...

i'll be going to UND just for the first semester (hopefully). i'm already looking at schools in VT and NY. chances are i'll end up in NY (i can use my sister's address to get in-state tuition). even if i cant get into any economics classes in ND i can still get some general ed classes out of the way..

Yeah, my mom introduced me too the show (a.k.a. free babysitter!) She always said something about me being illegitimate...? Maybe there's something to that!

:sarcasm:

Not sure if you know this or not, but UND has a Professional Flight minor. If you decide that you want to major in Economics, you could still get a minor in flight. Just some food for thought.

i'm quite aware of the flight minor, and i thought about doing it but i'd rather not be halfway across the country just for a minor in flight. the only reason i chose UND is because of the flight program. i think i'm better off closer to the atlantic and just getting my ratings on the side.

I kinda wish I wouldve (**Firefox wont let me type apostrphes!!!**) done that.

would've (firefox and all!)
Whenever I tried to type the apostrophe it would give you the Ctrl+F feature and make that annoying noise it makes when the word you're searching for isn't found. I restarted it and it was fine. Firefox is very buggy... that's what happens when you use open source software.

uhh you could do econ here and do the flying..HOWEVER Aviation classes have pre-qrequistes/CO-requsties, which are other classes and take more credits/time so you will be forcced to do something in the aviation school, Av mmgmnt, is a popular choice, Airprot managment, Commercial aviation, Flight education, check www.aero.und.edu
