Senior Flight Test Engineer Piper Aircraft, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Flight Test Engineer at their location in Vero Beach, Florida.

SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will provide flight test support of Company Development and Certification Programs. Interface with other departments to assure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) / Civil Aviation Regulation (CAR) requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assure that designated test aircraft comply with company requirements and applicable parts of the CARs and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) by applying the required flight testing techniques during certification flight tests. Coordinate activities of flight-test department, under direction of Chief Engineer, Flight Test / Aerodynamics. Conduct audits of production airplanes as required under the Delegation Option Authority (DOA).

Assure project test aircraft maintain conformity during test programs by controlling all hardware changes and maintenance. Generate technical reports and position papers used for the evaluation, development, substantiation and certification of systems, powerplants and airframes. Prepare data sheets, and other documents as required, to record the results of in-flight testing. Record in-flight data and operate data acquisition systems during flight test. Set up and maintain various flight test records and associated programs and databases to track flight test activities. Track Experimental work order status to include “In Flight Test Weekly Report”. Assist in the preparation and review of Pilot Operating Handbooks and Flight Manuals. Stay abreast of the FAA/JAA regulations and policies as they pertain to flight tests to assure compliance with applicable FAR/ Joint Aviation Requirements (JARs). Maintain inspection requirements for flight test equipment; attend safety training as required. Support Customer Service as required to respond to field inquiries and/or problems. Act as liaison between Flight Test and other departments as necessary. Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a Bachelors’ Degree in a Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering discipline, with continued advanced training in Flight Test Engineering, and a minimum of five years active flight test experience.

FAA certificates/ratings (commercial pilot license, multi-engine and instrument ratings), and comprehensive knowledge of aircraft design, testing and certification are necessary to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to qualify for DOA test pilot appointment within one year of employment with the Company.
