Hey people, I'm another long-time reader, first-time poster...

Does anyone know anything about New Mexico Airlines? Are they as dodgy as their sister company Pacific Wings? Ive seen the threads about PW and don't want to open a can of worms as I know what happened with those but am curious as to if anyone here has first or second hand knowledge/experience about them. thanks.

PS - I just saw the three other threads on NMA but they're a bit old and I'm looking for updated information on what working for this company is like. I know they expect you to work as a ramp agent and bag handler but what else?

it is the same as PW they just call it different but same stuff same management... That is all.

DON'T GO DO NOT GO!!!!!

Did you work there? Is it that bad? Is it a lack of professionalism or what? Do they also fire their pilots for BS reasons?

Yes YES YES Yes, When the owner rides along under an alias and does stuff to try to piss you off so you give him a "look" and then he fires you. (as stated by himself) Yes, IE you write a plane up they don't like you and your gone. You name it if you want a black mark to explain on all your next interviews then you have found your place. .

I'll put it to you this way. There are guys who seem very happy at Key Lime. There are guys who defend Mesa and say they had a good time-building experience there. I even once ran across a dude who had worked for Air Tahoma and didn't think it was "that bad" (look it up). I have never once met anyone who worked for any incarnation of Pacific Wings who had one nice thing to say. Not one.

Run don't walk.

Fail. You do realize you posted this in "Jobs Available" which would tell me if someone asked "Hey, what do you know about stick-n-rudder? I may have an opportunity" that my first answer may very well be, "Well, can't follow directions! And may show up to the wrong address for ground school" :)

I'm sorry Doug, I'm very new to posting in forums in general and to be honest the Jobs Available section is primarily where I spend my time when reading JC (unfortunately). And I should have mentioned in my first post that they are in fact hiring so it isn't that irrelevant to the Jobs Available section.
No need to put me down like that.

I know a guy who is currently flying for Vision who once flew for Pacific Wings with another member of this board in Hawaii. While I haven't spoken to the JC member who flew there about it, my acquaintance dismissed everything I asked him about PW and said it was a great place to build time and he loved it. I still wouldn't trust that with everything posted online, but there is at least one guy out there who liked it. On the Hawaii side anyway.

8/Hr Starting pay for "FOs"? No thanks. I can make just about twice that as a bartender/server and my work schedule allows me to attend college classes and gives me enough money to continue to build time/stay current while I wait for something better/ work on my CFI.

Personally I found the whole painting fake de-ice boots onto the leading edges of the Caravans (not the best airplane to take into icing so I hear) thing to be kind of a turn-off.

I've been there, avoid it like a plague, everything mentioned about them is true. Just go be a CFI, it may take a little longer but its a much better way to build time as you are forced to learn a lot more yourself.

Now I did get to ask my contact about that. He said they only did that in Hawaii(where rival Caravan Operator Mokulele also has painted leading edges with no boots), but the Georgia Sky and Kentucky Sky airplanes that were actually in the soup did have boots. He wasn't sure about New Mexico Airlines.

Again, sounds like a horrible place from most accounts, just trying to be accurate here though.

Personally saw a Georgia Skies painted van with black painted leading edges. I was standing right under the thing. This was at ATL winter of 09.
