Hey everyone, i'm 22 and live on Long Island. I'm currently working on my private pilot's license and my ultimate goal is to get my commercial/ATP and fly for an airline or corporate jets.

Is anyone on here from the Long Island area? I fly at FRG and it would be great to meet other pilots in the area, i'm also looking for a new CFI if anyone knows of a good one on LI let me know.

Welcome..

BTW, always remember to have your "Student Pilot" placard clearly displayed on the exterior of the aircraft at all times!

Welcome.

I'm new myself so I would like to introduce myself as well. I'm a cmel instrument pilot currently in the queue for my csel add-on checkride and will hopefully start CFI training in January. I too want to be a career pilot eventually.

true words. you can use that placard for at LEAST the first 1000 hours of your flying. You are never to experienced to use the "student pilot" defense on the radio.

Also, welcome to the thunder dome.

LOL, for some reason I imagined a situation like this:

Groud: United 1234 turn left to A, join B hold short C
Flight 1234: Left to A hold short of BC
Ground: No I said left A, join B hold short C
Flight 1234: Sorry student pilot
Ground:???

Welcome to JC and best of luck with your training! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! :)

What school/aircraft do you use at FRG?

i was flying at empire in their 172S but my instructor wasn't really that great and seemed to be there just to build hours and not really teach so i'm looking for a new one now. i'll probably try either a new instructor at empire or go over to nassau flyers or academy of aviation and see if they are any good.

Welcome Mattimus! I'm from Brooklyn, NY (right by the verrazano:rawk:). Don't live there at the moment though. Good luck with your training!

NW188, Student Pilot, Cleared for the visual...

Nah, I don't think it would have helped.

PM me if you want any help with finding a CFI and aircraft on the field.
