New KCM rules

I can see this going over like a fart in church. So far, during my commute, I've seen two people not allowed two jump seat because they were dressed casual, and countless others use it to do what appears to be just pain ole non rev. I've also hard conversations in the crew lounge about using it for leisure travel. Use your head, don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Yup. Spelled out pretty clearly, at least twice on the KCM page, that you can use it for business or personal travel. As far as the jump goes, that's another story and completely separate from KCM. You want to walk through KCM in flip flops, torn shirts, and a tank top, you can now (thanks ALPA! @Autothrust Blue), but you better change for the jump.

Point me to that if you would please. I remember reading it and if you were a leisure traveler, you still needed to go through security, since you aren't crew, you are a passenger(unless I'm an confusing it with something else).

And as I'm sitting here, on a jump seat, waiting for the boarding process to finish, the guy next to me is in jeans.

Don't dress like a dick and you'll get a ride. I had a flight where a United (@Seggy) guy (not @Seggy, but I love messing with him and United) who was pissed off that my captain wouldn't let him jumpseat in shorts and flip flops because "c'mon, you guys only fly for a regional!"


Yeah, dress to impress. I have paid tickets and free upgrades on @Derg's and @Seggy's airline and I wear nothing worse than dress shoes, nice jeans, and a polo while domestic.

We all might be getting differing guidance from our companies as well.

For example, SouthernJetters weren't allowed to use KCM for personal travel, only travel to/from work as per our company memo. The actual rules, who knows, but the man cutting my check said "Do Not" so…

Sometimes company guidance can be really annoying, but you follow it first. Reminds me of Pinnacle requiring deadheading crewmembers to go through the screening process rather than the cheese grater.

Regardless, if you plan on sitting on a jump seat, not only are you representing that company, but if you are in casual street clothes, you are also going to really confuse the passengers. You don't have to "dress to impress," but do is all a favor, and at least look like an employee.

I know a place where the employee bus drops you off inside the secure area...but if you are nonreving you now have to exit, be screeened, and come back in.

Also showing up dressed less than business casual for the jump seat makes me wonder "wait, how long have you worked here?!"

The SouthernJets rule was based on the FOM prohibition of wearing our uniform for purposes of other than for work. We are allowed to use KCM personal travel now, as the uniform is not required. We are still only allowed to wear the uniform as outlined in the FOM..

Jumpseating and KCM are two completing different items don't confuse the two....One is security screening and the other is a travel PRIVILEGE and governed by an agreement between two airline pilot groups. Most require uniform, business casual or higher dress. You are a professional dress like it.
