I accepted an agent position with the US Border Patrol. I will be stationed in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. I just started my IR thinking it would be months before they called me but it actually only took 10 days after I completed all the necessary steps.

I leave for New Mexico for training on Tuesday and now need to find a place to continue my flight training. I eventually would like to fly for the CBP and hopefully this agent position will afford me some great experiences and most of all some cash to pay for flight lessons.

JetCareers has been amazing and I think all who have contributed to my training.

Is it still 2 years as a ground pounder? When I talked to some recruiters 9 years ago, they said "We lose a lot of pilots..."

I said, "Why, to the airlines?? :drool:"

One of them said, "No, we lose a lot of them in accidents."

I was like- :eek:..."thanks for your time"...
 
Congrats! You're job should be much easier & safer than if you were guarding the Mexican border. Smart move. :)
 
The agent to pilot program is up in the air as of right now. I going to get through my commercial multi and then see what their air operations say. Most likely it will be on to my cfi/cfii/mei, (which i would be happy to do) to build up my time and experience till i can get a position with the CBP Air and Marine or if an different oportunity opens up, I'll look into that.

NB trainees still need to be stationed on the SB for ten months before we get to come back. I'll be at the Santa Teresa Station in the El Paso Sector after I get done with the academy and Spanish.
 
I am sick of these Canadians sneaking across our borders, having their anchor babies in our hospitals and then getting on our welfare and such. I also hate how others will take sub-par jobs from hard working 'mericans! I say build a wall between us and Canada!

I agree, Waco. We're being bombarded from both sides w/ illegals & their offspring. When will it ever end...lol.
 
Congrats on the new job. I have seen the training that CBP goes through and it doesn't look like fun. If you haven't, start running and running now and drink plenty of water when you get out there. You'd be suprised how fast you can get dehydrated.

You'd be suprised what is coming across our northern boarder. :eek:
