New ideas for food

Crowd sourcing here so bear with me:

History: So I've been using my cooler, it's great and I love it, but I noticed something the last two trips. I bring a bunch of the small soups and microwaveable rices and bring a sandwich bag full of already cooked chicken, and add it in either, and I'm good for big meals for all 4-5 days. I have an assortment of snacks, including sabra hummus and pretzels.

Realization: It occurs to me all I need to keep cool and refrigerated is a small sandwich bag stuffed with chopped up and cooked chicken and a bunch of hummus.

Conclusion: I could start bringing my little attachable duffle bag again and forgo the big cooler if I can just figure out how to bring along the chicken and hummus and keep it cold. The duffle bag doesn't have insulation so what should I use?

Possibilities:

  • Thermos
  • Really small insulated lunch bag (like kids one)
  • Insulate/ductwrap the duffle bag or just the lunch part with a cooler pack inside
Any other ideas?

I bring sandwiched and hummus with me in a duffle bag and use the rubbermaid ice blankets, they look like a bunch of small ketchup packets full of water stuck together to make a large sheet. I use two of those, one on either side of all the food. With premade sandwiches they are not always cold after a 12 hour day, especially in the summer but dense food like the hummus usually has no issue staying cold. Just pray the hotel has a freezer.

For chicken the thermos sounds like your best bet.
