Good point. I should have said welcome to JC.

I currently fly the space shuttle and I instruct at a school that will get you from zero time to astronaut in 3 months Guaranteed!!!

Shooter, what kind of job placement do you have? Is there a bridge program with NASA? Do you have Key Bank or Sallie Mae?

Yes you can finance the entire program with a 120K loan from Key. Of course you can get a discount if you pay up front. We have a direct track program with Nasa. You won't find that at some small FBO now will ya???

well nice to meet you all!! and of course being from Ottawa I am a Senators fan but seeing as they are gone time to cheer for Calgary

Who did the Caps get for Bondra?

At the time the trade was made, I thought it was good for him because he'd have a chance to go to a team where he could win it all. Guess I was wrong.

How many years did he have left on his contract? Maybe the Caps could do what the Orioles did Ponson last year. Trade him, get some prospects, and then bring him back after his contract expired at the end of the year.

He has one more year left on his contract. He didn't want to go. He has been a cap for 14 years. He had taken his kids to the rink for practice the day he found out about the trade. He was pretty upset. I guess in the end he was happy to have a chance but the way things turned out, it didn't really matter.

The caps got a prospect and a second round pick in the 2005 draft for him.

I like Bondra, and he seemed like a class act. What's funny is that he seemed on the outs when Wilson was here and then he became a mainstay of the Caps after that.

But the Caps are not going to be in a position to contend next year, and it makes more sense for Bondra to be somewhere that he can get a Cup. Kind of like Ray Bourque and the Bruins, you know?

I honestly am surprised that Kolzig isn't gone as well. With the two supposedly can't miss prospects the Caps have at goal, I figured that deal would get done. Not that I don't like Kolzig -- I actually met him in the Caps Club at the MCI Center during a preseason game and he was really cool -- but the same thing applies. Give him a chance to show the magic he showed during the Caps only appearance in the Stanley Cup finals for someone who can get him that Cup.

Well its been said the Senators might be getting rid of Bondra before next year. (If there is a next year)

As for Kolzig the Senators GM John Muckler, felt that the current goalie Patrick Lalime was all they needed to go for the cup and we all know what happened to Lalime; the big game 7 choke.
Hopefully now the Senators aquire Kolzig but I think I heard someone say that Kolzig would rather stay with the Caps.

Wow! Did the Senators not like Bondra? He is a very talented player, with a wicked shot and a lot of speed. If they cut him loose, I'd love to see the Caps get him back.

Kolzig does want to stay in Washington, but I'm sure he can see the writing on the wall, too. He's not getting any younger, and there are two stud prospects for his spot.

I think the caps want to keep Kolzig. I think the feeling is he can be a pretty good mentor to the 2 new guys they have. Kolzig has definately been around the block. Bondra is a very expensive player. The Sens may not be able to afford to keep him next year. I don't think the caps can afford to take him back though. The caps GM was pretty set on starting over and building a "new" team. We'll see.
