New Gig

Well,

I've started my new CFI gig at SNA and it's a pretty cool place to be. I'm waiting for students now. I'm standardized to teach private pilot students and we'll get me standardized on the instrument stuff next week

On a side note, I got to ride in the backseat of a Cessna 340 out over Catalina island while another guy was getting checked out in it. Pretty fun.

Good luck mate!!!
Let us know how your finding instructing after a few months!

SkyGuyEd is the 'shiznit'. If you guys want a personally handwritten recommendation of Ed, let me know and I'll FEDEX one out to you and even run your ads free for a week in appreciation of Ed.

How do you really feel, Doug? Because I can't tell if you like him or not.

On track with the thread, I will personally vouch for Surf to anyone in the OC area who is thinking about heading out to meet up with him. While it sucks he's no longer around FAT city to hang with, I'm really happy for him getting this gig. And Kev, I'm thinking of heading down in the next three weeks sometime to catch that sim at LGB. We'll hit the waves, k.

K and I might be out in FAT a little later in the month. At which FBO are you working? Have we ever achieved the first-jetway-in-Fresno-history yet?

Ed's a good man, has a real thirst to reach out and help.

PhotoPilot and I both work at Mazzei. And the jetway was finished in November of 2002, I think. Maybe it was later than that, but it's been up for a while. Definitely let us know if you're coming to town. We'll hook it up.

Ever take your students down to KTLR? That hangar on the far west side of the airport, near the static B-17 and F-4 displays is "Optimus Prime" for my flight training.

Is Blackbeards still open on the north side of KFAT? We'd drive 50 minutes from Tulare just to play videogames and go to Fatburger.

I've landed at TLR once to pick up a camshaft for the Tomahawk at the southeast end of the field. Down and back in 1.0!

I find it a little sad that you would drive all the way up for Blackbeard's.

It's still there, though I don't know that there is a Fatburger anywhere in town. Colorado Grill beats it anyway. There's only one Del Taco for Tuesday tacos, and it's way on the other side of town.

With that, I'm headed for bed.

The California Grill WAS Fatburger back in the day. We're talking the late 1980's.

Back then, about the biggest thing we had going in Tulare was Mooney Boulevard which was a straight shot to the big lights/big city of Visalia.

jdflight is the man, thanks dude.

Doug, when i was instructing in Hanford (HJO) I would take students to TLR from time to time and Sequoia field as well. They have those C-130s sitting there with jacks under the wings to keep them from falling off...I guess.

Colorado grill is pretty darn good. Have yet to get the egg on the burger though. Is that good?

jdflight, I have an extra wetsuit and board...and I'm going this morning before I head in. Just lemme know man. Don't kill yourself on your mountain excursion.

Seacrest out!

Ahh Sequoia field! That place rocks!

I think, for a period of time, they had a couple A26's converted to firebombers. Sweet looking aircraft.

The runway is in bad shape at Q31. There are a bunch of scrapped airplanes. A student of mine went over there with me and as we were taxiing back he said some looked like S-3's. They were orange and said NAVY on them.

CS that is great, I saw your name on the schedule the other day and thought 'Hey, I know that guy!'

Thanks a lot Doug and jonnyb!!! I am definately working on it...

Surf, the excursion got scrapped. Conditions are currently beyond our experience level. Damn aeronautical decision making translates to the ground and foils me again!

Great... Now I want a chili dog!

If anyone is near Visalia, Taylor's is a little 50's style hot dog stand just north of main street in downtown Visalia.

Incredible chili dogs!
