New Found Respect for Airline Pilots

Amen! :):)

Sad that an airline pilot needs to revert to his inner kindergarten teacher, but whatever it takes these days, I guess. And seriously, if this guy ever loses his medical, he really does have a backup career as an excellent kindergarten teacher waiting for him.

He broke the 5 second rule for welcome aboard PA's.

All the passengers want to know is where they're going, how long it will take, and that the pilots are alive. Anything else and you're talking for yourself.

One Capt on a flight I was riding on read the METAR for the destination when describing what the rather was going to be when 30 minutes out. I’m sure he had the complete attention of the pax.

Another one on another flight made an advertisement for the airline credit cards during his PA. :)

I mean, the FA's tell them that, why do welcome announcements at all?

that’s happened to me on the last few domestic flights I’ve been on. My biggest peeve though was telling temp in Celsius.

I’ve had to be that guy several times this summer after tbe FA’s came up and let me know what was going on. Once July hit it seemed to become a weekly occurrence albeit I didn’t spend that much time talking. It’s either you wear the mask and be respectful to the crew memebers. If you can’t let one of us know and we’ll find alternate travel arrangements. I never had a problem after that. I’m not fond of treating customers like children but the shenanigans has gotten really old this summer.

Every company has its YMMV but if that talk is happening with the main cabin door open, you may have a ground security coordinator or someone land-based that's responsible for that kinda stuff. Perhaps utilizing them would be prudent.
