Great article. It nice to see that even with a long career in aviation you still cling to the one thing that bonds us all together, a devine love of flying. It is inspiring and for that we thank you.

I told Doug I'd try and do at least one each month. This depends of course on the NASCAR and IRL race season.
Seriously though, I consider it an honor to first of all having been blessed to serve this great nation in the Air Force. From that came my involvement in aviation. Involvement is a rather antiseptic word....total lifetime immersion would be a better term.
I sincerely believe all pilots, from the most fledgling one just developing an interest in aviation, to those who have "flown west and taken than final check ride" have a common bond. That fellowship that only comes from within each and every one! Not some fraternity you join, pay dues, attend meetings and run for office. But a fellowship born out of a profession that is a hundred years old.
I have great confidence in the future of aviation, just like I have great confidence in this great nation. The youth of America, much maligned by an often vindictive and sensation seeking media, are the future! And I feel from the bottom of my heart that they will continue that which those before have done. Nowhere is this more apparent to me than in the profession of flying, of being a pilot.
I look forward to looking back and trying to convey that which I have experienced. For better or worse. While I don't have any background in journalism or writing, it probably will be more like a rambling conversation one might have over a few beers. But then that's kind of they way I've done it for longer than I can remember.
I only hope that in some small way I can contribute to that profession that has given me so much. To be able to repay, or to give back something. If I do that, I will have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams and ambitions.
