I agree with Douglas and the rest of these guys regarding this "right stuff" discussion. As long as a person is capable of learning, in my opinion they are capable learning to fly an airplane. That said, as an instructor for a student like this you must have an abundance of two qualities:
1) Patience.
2) Confidence, both in your teaching and, most importantly, in the student ability to perform. After all they will likely live up to your expectations, be them good or bad.
