How is this going to affect 121 guys? And why do I have to get an approval to leave the effin country! What if I want to leave the country, and don't have a time that I'd like to be back, because I have no agenda, and there is no internet acess where I am going! Stupid internets!

Here's the link to the CBP site I think he's referring to, although this may be geared towards private aviation as opposed to Part 121. Maybe the airlines use it too, I don't know.

At first, I thought, "Hey this isn't so bad if it replaces all the phone calls you have to make and the paperwork you have to fill out when you arrive". But that's not the case. This is an additional requirement; you still have to do all the regular steps you always had to do, but now it's easier for them to track you and assess you a fine for messing up their hoops.

All 121 carriers have been doing APIS since around 2004-05. THis is why you need to be listed on a jumpseat at least 75 minutes prior and all passengers are supposed to be checked in 1:30 prior.
