New Army BDU

Cretin camoflague? Seriously, how is that camo? The Army is probably just trying to save money by eliminating two types of camo by putting one in their place.

There are a lot of people that want the Navy to go to some form of camp BDU. What for? Who are we hiding from. Are people not going to shoot at our ship because it doesn't look like anyone is onboard??? until the ships are hidden, I don't know the point of BDU's for us. plus, I don't think you can use BDU's as a raft.

I don't think coveralls work as a raft either. We were all in coveralls when I left the ship. As far as cammies, I think they are more comfortable than dungarees (or utilities, whatever you want to call them).

Of course, the coveralls were much more comfortable than anything.

I like the coveralls the best as well. I can tell you from experience that they do hold water as well. I won't go into details except to say that you shouldn't engage in horseplay while working on a barge.

hell yah!:D I loved the coveralls. Nothing to tuck in, no creases, loose and comfy. All you have to do in the morning or evening is jump out of the rack, put your legs in, zip it up and buckle your belt. Though it did suck to get paint on them and have to go our and pay another $24.00 to buy a new pair.
They were also not very pleasant in the heat of the Gulf.

I don't think anything would have been comfortable in the gulf. They really should consider building a large dome over the entire Arabian Gulf region and air conditioning it...

$24...that's for the coveralls. Now we have to have patches all over them.

You're looking at $50 by the time you sew all the patches on (name tape, crows, US Navy, ESWS (or AW, or whatever), some have the American flag, and some have the unit patch on them. The craziest thing I saw was COVERALL INSPECTIONS.

When underway we had to be in coveralls. I'm not sure what you're supposed to work in, but that's just crazy!

I hated the dungajammies...then the new ones came out and I learned how much more hate I can foster for an article of clothing...

I remember seeing Navy personell in the middle of Kuwait earlier this year, so I guess you guys go need DCU's everyonce in awhile.

Our Corpsman and airwing personnel go ashore. SEALS and EOD guys for obvious reasons but camo on a ship is just dumb!

I tell you what though. Those seals were a tough looking group when they wanted to be. During Operation Dessert Fox watching the seals getting ready to deploy. Those guys went to shore loaded for bear. Never brought back any trophies though.

Everybody wants to leave thier mark. I remember before the Corps came out with that new digital pattern they took a survey asking us what we wanted. Interstingly enough the Marines picked tiger stripe. The uniform board decided to pick the digital pattern. General Jones left his mark with cammies and the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, Krulak with the crucible, now some Army General will leave his. They are supposed to be "wash and wear" but in just a few months all the motivated 1stSgts and SgtMajs will be strong-arming the troops into pressing their cammies. It will be just like old times. What is the point anyway? I wore woodland green MOPP suits in a desert. Sorry for ranting and raving but it's one of those things.

Mtsu you forget we are talking army after all. They are not as squared away as the Corps. That army bdu looks familiar except in color, hmmm, oh yes, the Marine Corps has had those in the field for almost two years already. Don't get me started on the squared away factor. Saluting indoors with no cover, not under arms, etc......

I did a year in the Army Guard, and ran away screaming, with my arms in the air.....
