I interviewed for this position in Oct of last year. Nice people. I am local in DFW. Not sure of the salary, but the interview process consisted of a short intro by one of the HR people, followed by the standard dispatcher knowledge test. I think it was about 25 questions. Lots of acronyms, definitions, regulations. Might do you good to study. I believe I got a 100 on the test. The next part was a one on one intervew with the Dispatcher Manager and the Training Manager. They simply asked questions about you, then went into the standard scenario questions. I thought as a whole my intereview went well. I did not get called back for a job, but that is ok. Sometimes it just isnt the right day or whatever.

Beneifts are standard in the industry, you get flight benefits from day one, put into cass, etc. Hope this helps and good luck. I just had a crew scheduler interview yesterday and I hope I get the opportunity that way.

As far as getting on the aircraft, you priority more than likely will be positive space, which is basically ahead of all the non rev but below the paying pax. 99% chance you will get on. That is one reason companies like you there the day before, in case the flight is cancelled, they may still be able to get you out the next day.

You can request to travel on the same day as the interview but if the interview starts at 8am real good chance there won't be a flight.

Yes it is common that you pay for your hotel and taxi. Think about it this way, the company gets hundreds of applications for each position, if there are 50 people that are qualified to be interviewed that is a heck of alot of money beside the cost of the travel.

Best of luck

The travel is "stand-by" with instructions that say we are responsible for all costs of hotels, food etc.. checking the loads for all flights going to DFW and returning on Friday after 5pm ( eagles instructions) all the flights are already full to MCO.... this really sucks.. I cant afford to get stuck in DFW for days just to get home.... The hotel rates are expensive even with the airline rate.... tough when your on a tight budget..

What happened to the days of "positive Space" at first read, Am Eagles treatment of interviewees seems to speak loudly about the way one will be treated as an employee.. It also paints a bad picture of an possibility of commuting home / work out of MCO, which has always been a challenge, but not impossible... this really is pitiful..

Violin. Play.

Welcome to the new world of Airline Interviews. I went on an interview for Virgin America, and they would not even offer any sort of tickets on their aircraft. I had to utilize my CASS agreements to get me between New York and San Francisco. Also if you are thinking of commuting between work and home, I will tell you it is a giant pain in the rump. I commuted for 18 months, and it really took a toll on me.

Thanks for the song and dance Ljg... LOL... I spoke with them today and mentioned the loads, told them I could not buy a ticket if I wanted too, they looked themselves and could not find a way to get me there either... MCO is perhaps the worst city to fly standby out of... No violins needed.. just the facts.. they are now looking at other options to interview..

I would call them back and tell them you are willing to fly out of almost any airport within a xxx mile radius of MCO and have that list ready for them if they can get you on a flight. Just a thought.

Wow for a new airline still trying to find it's way that's surprising, certainly not a good way to have ppl jump at the chance to work for them. How long ago did you interview with them?

They are a real professional airline.. after checking the loads for all 8 flight out and 9 flights back to MCO, there wwere a total of 8 forst class seats available.. I'm told that a non-rev can not and will not be allowed to sit there under any condition.. so getting there of their interview on a standby tix is not possible.. the same thing would happen on the return flight.. I would most likely be stuck in DFW for at least 2 days.. The hotel costs are on us as well, and all their discount hotel rooms are gone, the hotel is full..

They sure know how to treat prospective new hires, make one wonder how your treated as an employee? If this is a Violin playing.. then bring on the entire band... this is just unprofessional...

And yes I took your suggestion about other airports.. short of driving hundreds of miles the loads out of Florida are the same for stand by flying.. TPA, PBI, JAX.. no good..

Wow that sucks, did you tell them your unable to attend because of that? I guess looking at it from their perspective your probably 1 of 20 ppl or so, if they do it for one they gotta do it for all which could get pricey, still sucks tho.

Very few carriers I've worked for offered to fly me in for the interview positive space...and I can't think of any that paid for my hotel expenses. Sucks, but it's the way of the industry. Flights are all flying full these days so it's hard for non-revvers. I would suggest biting the bullet and getting a ticket; it's what I did to make it to my first airline interview. If you are waiting on a carrier to fly you positive space and pay for your hotel when they interview you...I am afraid it could be a long wait.

We seem to be missing the forest fore the trees here.. If I could have bought a seat I would have, it was my last resort, however.. the problem for everyone,, the airline and I, is that there were NO seats available to start with!.. 100% full and over sold.. checked other airports from TPA, PBI, FLL, JAX nothing... and...

Since I was invited to interview 6 days in advance, the only few seat left were first class and only 7 seat available over the 8 flights schedule.. these were stupid expensive from MCO to DFW.. over $1400 r/t.. second this is not my first interview or first job dispatching, I know what others have done and do.. and this airline should be smart enough when they invite people from high load areas ( MCO)to know that they will not get a standby seat.. for crying out loud.. it's their schedule!..
I never expected for them to pay for a hotel, however.. HAD i made it to the interview.. getting home on a weekend to MCO would have been a long weekend of chasing flights down all over DFW and probably would have not got home until Sunday at the earliest.. another 2 nights of hotel rooms.. its nothing but a few hundred dollars on 1 in 20 chance of getting a job that pays $13 and hour...

Funny, another carrrier just invited me to interview... this morning.. positive space ticket.. up and back the same day, paid for rental car.. imagine that.. you can tell quality from quantity...

Their hiring process seems to be a big mess. I just dont think it is worth it to move for a 13 dollar an hour job. Just my two cents. Unless you live in the area, prob not worth all the effort and money it would take to get here.

OOO ok I must have missed the fact that you couldn't even buy a pos seat, ah well hopefully this other gig works out for you, good luck.

Hey all, got offered the crew scheduler job today. Not the dispatcher job, but I will do crew scheduling for a year to get my foot in the door at AE. I am excited..
