Whichever tire combo you use, I think you'll prefer having the nose wheel be a smaller diameter than the mains. When they're the same size you have to hold the nose pretty high to avoid touching down nosewheel first, and having the nose high screws up your sight picture. I'm not saying it's a disaster to run a nosewheel the same diameter as the mains, just that in my experience it was a nuisance.
There are definitely a few advocates of running 8.50s all the way around: Jim Tweto has a sled set up that way, and he loves that plane. I flew it a lot, and wasn't a fan.
