New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight Acad.

Re: New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight A

I've never placed a magazine ad without receiving a "proof" first. The management has to approve it so there rests the blame - 100%

As for the advertising you find deceptive, if you aren't aware of this, you should be: more often than not, ads are written by copywriters with only the barest grasp of what they're trying to market. It's not like you're going to find many ad people with a commercial ticket and 3000 hours under their belt and able to separate the bull from the [censored

take for example the jackass who developed the TSA security training for flight schools/instructors. worst nonsense ever created, wonder how much the taxpayers spent on that?!?!

Re: New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight A

Oh wow, here we go again. I can't speak for the Arizona campus but all the people I've spoken to that have visited the Ft Perice campus weren't very impressed, and I haven't been impressed by the lack of good radio calls or keeping a good visual lookout in the training areas either. I will say that Pan Am's advertising is very slick and impressive, but take everything with a grain of salt and look around and find out what's best for you. If you like Pan Am's program and are happy with it all the best to you. We're all trying to get to the same place in the end, getting paid to do somthing we love doing.

got an example? I'd love to see that!

I think what he is referring to is the web-based TSA security training "test" that we had to take. It was "interesting" to say the least... If I can find the website, I will post it so you can see what I mean...Although I think it might be password protected, but I can't remember.

Re: New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight A

I have that TSA link if someone wants to see it. As stupid as it was, I don't know if its in the best interest to post it here for the world to see, if you want to PM me I'll send it to you.

Re: New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight A

yankee,

I tried to pm you for the link, but your account is set up to block pm's.......

You are probably right... Thanks for the thought though!

i don't have exact quotes but some of the things the TSA training wants all FLight Instructors to look out for:

-any nervous looking individual (ie. every student i have)
-indviduals who may be perspirating and nervous at the same time (ie. again, every student i have)
-people walking around on the ramp looking into aircraft windows (ie. ME! i'm sorry but Cirrus cockpits are too sweet not to look in at stare at)
-any student who pays in cash, or pays in cash in advance for future flights (ie. the only people now-a-days who can afford to fly usually pay in cash...we've got multiple students who pay in cash, because they have butt loads of it)

(they basically have us looking for that crack addict character on the Dave Chapel show: sweaty, nervous, itchy, chapped lips)

and as you go through this TSA test you have to decide, for each scenerio, what action you would take.
A. call supervisor
B. call authorities or the TSA hotline
C. question the individual personally

go to the TSA website and it should be on there under TSA security training or something. go through it and you'll see how goofy it is.

oh, and the biggest thing that got me about the whole thing is that the hijackers on 9-11 were specifically trained and instructed not to do any of the things the TSA securtiy training has us looking out for. they were trained to be personable, pleasant, calm, and to just fit in as a normal everday joe. so why aren't we being trained about things like that??

Re: New Advertiser: Pan Am International Flight A

And didn't you just LOVE how whatever you chose to answer, it was almost always wrong.

For example, one scenario seems to have the correct answer of "contact a supervisor"...but no, you were supposed to talk to the person first. Then, have almost the same scenario, answer "talk to the person first", and they say no, you should have called the authorities.

It was a complete waste of time and bandwidth...

Don't EVEN think of doing it on a dial-up connection...unless you have a day or two off!
