We are working on a system which, instead of carrying a resume, we have the option for an online repository of resumes on file.

With this, a recruiter can use a tablet or smart phone to scan your "QR Code" and be able to review your resume, paperless.

Details will be distributed after some more testing.
 
Here's what we're geeking on in the home office:

On your name badge it's going to be first and last name, forum username (optional) and a scannable QR code so instead of having to exchange business cards, you can use your smartphone to scan the code and exchange information paperlessly.

On the back of the name badge, we're going to have another QR code, optionally, that can be scanned by a device or laptop device that points to an online resume for a recruiter or other interested party can review your resume.

So basically, we want to keep the event "business casual" and as paperless, "un-career fair-ish" and as close as we can to our traditional networking event format that we all enjoy.

That's the latest on the topic.

How about a another badge with a QR code that has my "photo portfolio"...

I'm certain you'll get information about this, but if you have a place with a "private" URL where your res' is stored, you can always make up a QR code for that and have it handy on a card for scanning.
 
What if I dont want to give my biz card to everyone there, and only to people I chose...can I skip the front QR code or have it blank? And no, I am not really joking here

You can leave it blank if you like.

We will most likely also be inserting a bar code on the name badge that will permit an attendee to scan name and email addy or you can bring your own biz cards to hand out...really, it's up to you. We're just going to provide the means to offer without carrying a load of paper around. ;)
 
So this isn't fleshed out yet? I was just on my eventbrite to add my forum name and saw a line about QR code link.

So here's the easiest way to do this....

If you want a QR code that will lead directly to your online resume

1) PDF your resume, please be sure to check that all of the formatting is correct and spelling is correct and that it looks great in a PDF view/reader.
2) upload your PDF to somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive and once uploaded, make sure that it is public so that it can be viewed by someone other than yourself.
3) copy the website address to your uploaded PDF onto your NJC eventbrite ticket information. You can gain access to your ticket by using the email address you supplied when you purchased your ticket. If you haven't created a password for it, you can do it when you try to login....at the bottom of the ticket, under the box for your Jetcareers member name, you'll see a box for the resume link. Insert link and save.

please make sure you try the link to make sure it works and that it looks good! :)
 
We're also including a bar code on the name badge that will be scannable to exchange contact information (name and email address).

Please make sure your contact information is correct and the contact info you want to use.

It'll make business cards unnecessary since you can save the information directly to your cell phone. Although, if you wish to distribute business cards, by all means, bring them. :)
