Netjets to furlough 540?

After working at a FBO that had a ton of NJ (and other frac) traffic, I'll admit that on the surface some of the things they did seemed kinda boneheaded, but when you consider that they don't know all their flights that have to be covered more than 4 hours out and just how much these clients pay to have a working airplane THERE ready to go when they want it, 99% the things that they do make total sense. Do you want a backup plane there, just in case? really, that will be an extra $5,000, Oh, not a problem.

I always found the NJ guys to be great guys when I worked ramp. I'm sorry for the news, hopefully it'll be a short time out for everyone.

Guy I flew with here at 9E is gonna be in that 495. He left here for AirTran, then left AirTran for Netjets. At the time, I figured he was set and in a good position. Who knew? Turn out he woulda been better off job wise staying at Airtran. Haven't been able to get a hold of him yet, so I don't know what his plans are going forward from here.

I've got two good buddies over there affected by this. One recently accepted the offer to go back to the Air Force and so the timing is lucky, he heads to Germany in February. The other guy isn't quite so lucky, he's gonna be looking hard for another job. It sucks either way. Sorry for all those guys/gals.

The scary part about this is that there's no escaping furloughs even flying rich people. Maybe we should all try cargo.

We should get out of this king air stuff, the airlines are way more stable.
The airlines are falling apart, lets go corporate rich people aren't going anywhere
Corporate is shedding jobs, cargo has been pretty consistent why are we fooling around?
Cargo is falling apart, screw this, I'm gonna get a job back home for some guy I know, needs a pilot for his company.

Careful, don't run around in circles

While there have been some furloughs, up until this point it's pretty amazing that the airlines for the most part are still intact.

Reminds me of that anti-drug commercial from way back when:

"I snort coke...so I can work longer...so I can make more money...so I can...do more coke"

kellwolf,
I think you're referring to a friend of mine. I can pass along a message if you like.

Thanks, man. I did get a hold of him. Initials are DS if it's the same guy. He lives out Doug's way, but says it's so tough out there he can't even get a CFI job since no one is hiring.
