Netjets to furlough 540?

Talked to a netjets guy in the jet bridge the other day and he was saying 540 is the initial round of cuts, any truth?

I spoke with an FO the other day and he said they keep giving them different numbers, but that they were in the 200-250 range, but that they still weren't sure, so everyone was on pins & needles.

I have heard the same rumor, although the number was 400. Let's hope not. It is fact they have cut a lot of office personnel and management and morale is down since the old CEO left. Confirmed this with an FO whose wife works for them.

I've heard the NetJets furlough rumor for the past 6 months now, but nothing..... Let's hope not. Last thing we need is more pilots on the street.

Rumors have NJA as being 100-150 airplanes heavy. Figure 5 pilots per airplane; you do the math.

Sokol began cuts from day one and it seems as if he has made it through administration and support staff. I would expect to see something within a month regarding the fate of the lowest 500.

Great, because what the market needs is more business jets up for sale

how many pilots work for net jets? and why are they so heavy on airplanes.. is it companies are cutting back flying or is it that they are higher priced than their competitors? i always heard netjets is the place to work at.

I really hope they don't furlough. Seems like a top-notch place to work. Unfortunately "bizjet" is like a 4-letter word nowadays. Whatever happens I hope they maintain those things which make it a desirable place to work.

As Alex said 495 is the number. Corporate buyers aren't the problem, personal is way down.

My buddy at netjets said he thought they would furlough, but didnt have a number. Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully it wont last very long if you do. We're getting our furloughs back, and they were out about 6 months. Still a long time, but much quicker than we expected.

Last month I was commercialling through ATL and ran into a Netjets pilot. He said that the day following the Madoff scandal hit the fan, they lost upwards for 50 clients overnight.

It sure isn't. A friend of mine got laid off from crew scheduling up at NetJets. My understanding is they're now running pretty seriously understaffed, at least in that department. If I remember right, she also said that dispatch is getting the same treatment. Still seems to be nasty news out there for those of us looking. :(

I know a couple of guys that went there to get out of the cyclical passenger airline game.

Nowhere to run to it seems like.

Unreal, but yeah 495 is the confirmed number.

Its tough when you find out at recurrent. I felt bad for a few guys today.

Damn this sucks. I know a lot of great Netjets guys.

Really too bad considering the voluntary concessions that went on a few months ago.
