NetJets Crew Does It Again

One day last summer while just hanging around at KARR a NetJets crew came in and was waiting for a passenger. The FO saw me looking at the airplanes on the ramp and just came over and started to chat. We discussed nothing specific, however the talk turned to his job and he was more than insightful about all aspects of it.

Fast forward to yesterday (9-15). I am working the line at KDPA and there is a NJI G450 sitting on the ramp. We go over and fuel the aircraft, share plesantries with the crew and off we go. Afterwards, I am fueling a Hawker right next to the G450 and the FO walks out and checks a few things. My co-worker walks over and tells her how much I like that aircraft and she just smiles.

She walks in pays the bill and by the time I finish with the Hawker she is walking towards me. I finish up with the truck and she approaches me, introduces herself and says "I hear you want to fly this aircraft at somepoint!" I just smile and say "yes ma'am". She says to follow her. She brings me on board, gives me the layout, talks about the avionics and demonstrates a few things. In all, I spent about 10 min. on the aircraft with her while she shared. The Captain was sitting in the back the whole time, just relaxing. As we climbed down, he smiled, waved and said good luck!

I believe this is just another reason why so many people are attracted to this company. I believe part of it is the job itself, for some it is the benefits, but I truly believe a lot of it is because of the type of individuals the company has flying for it.

Oh yeah............that bird only had 150hrs. on it! Newest aircraft I'll probably ever be on!
 
Ran into a Netjets guy at MDW the other day. I think they were flying a Sovereign, not sure. My buddy and I were doing the freightdog dance of kvetching and moaning even more than usual to impress our audience with how tough it was there in the trenches flying The Most Dangerous Airplane Ever Built <tm> (realize here that the job is actually good, the plane is just a plane, and we were just playing a part we thought we were supposed to to like gain cred or something).

He just put his feet up and said "well you know, it gets better. I gotta go, but next time I see you we'll go out and look at YOUR FUTURE". Cool guy, and I've yet to see them not be. Almost enough to make me carry golf clubs for the obscenely rich. Almost.
 
I've had the same experiences with NetJet crews also (also with citation shares). I'm back in Chicago now but when I was flying and working at an FBO on the side at in Tulsa, OK (riverside airport KRVS) they would come in all the time and couldn't have been nicer.

We had to deice one of the citation X's that came in and while waiting to get the sprayer he was talking all about the best way to get to where he was and then we went into the cockpit and whle I was sitting in the FO seat he did his engine start...really cool! Really reminds me how the profession is still respected with this side of flying

p.s. said he could go from LAX to LGA in about 3 hours with a good tailwind
 
I agree. I was changing the oil on the 152 on a sunny day at BAF (Westfield, Mass). A Netjets Hawker had just landed and they were waiting for their passenger. The FO walked about a half a mile to the GA T-hangers and just chatted with us GA guys that were puttering around our airplanes.
 
Yeah the Netjets guys are great. I've met a few bad apples, but the far majority of them are extremely nice. I couldn't tell you the number of Netjets aircraft I've gotten tours of because of how nice the pilots are.

I had one guy fire up the APU just so I could get a picture of the cockpit with everything lit up.

I also had a FO who was flying for a Part 121 airline doing charter work fire up the APU while I was sitting in the Captain's seat and my coworker and the FO's grandfather were standing in the doorway. He also explained all of the systems in the cockpit for us. Really great guy...

Usually if you ask a crew member if you can take a look at the cockpit, they're pretty cool about it and might even give you a tour.
 
After reading this post I invetigated the NetJets web site...

It resparked my desire to be a professional pilot :D

Their pay is excellent!

Crew bases excellent!

Benefits sound good!

Its to bad the regionals can't be more like this... I guess it all comes down to money.
 
I met an NJA Captain once on a layover. He'd flown in on my last leg of the day. We met in the gym in and he recognized me from before.

We met up for dinner in the hotel restaurant to discuss the merits of the business and he was more than happy to let me pick his brain about the company. Apparently they're one of the few that's actively hiring and buying new airplanes. He seemed very, very happy with the company.

Interesting concept- pilots being happy with their company.

My Mom shared an old pearl my Dad had often muttered during his NWA days.
"I wonder how much money this place would make if they had all these people working for them instead of against them?"

I think NJA is a company that might actually have that going on. Good for them.
 
In addition to be qualified to fly for NJ, I believe it's all about Customer Service.....internal and external. Brush up on your CS skills boys & girls because that is what it's going to separate the wheat from the chaff.;)

Indeed. NetJets customers pay a premium for the service, and NJ in turn actually charges what it costs them to not only run the airline, but to pay the crews a decent wage that translates into happy crews and happy customers...circle of life....

The problem is that most Joe Sixpacks want NetJets service for Skybus prices.
 
The NetJets guys have always been great. Back when I was doing my commercial cross-countries when I was getting my ratings, I ran into an ExecJet (what NetJets used to be called years ago) crew with a brand new Citation X. I parked my tiny little Piper Warrior next to them and they called me over while I was waiting for it to be refueled. Gave me a full tour of the cockpit, showed me the fancy passenger cabin, the steak dinners that were being catered, etc... Great guys.

that and they also always ask me if I instruct/fly and when I tell them yes they open up with all kinds of encouragement and insight. I've had plently of pilots from other companies do the same thing but it's most commonly Netjets. It shows me that they care about much more than themselves. Keep up the good work Netjets.:D

haha, a Falcon CA offered my buddy a letter of rec, when the time comes, after knowing him for the 5 minutes he showed us the airplane (he has more experience than me). That shocked me, and left an awsome impression on me.
 
Net Jets definately has a great group of people working for them and the company treats their people correctly.

I too had similar experienes with NJ back when I was working in a line department. They also allowed me tag along with the mechanic on a few test flights.

Yeah, I say little prayer before every flight. It's the only way I survive. You know? I keep a picture of my family in the cockpit and I look at them everytime before I shoot and approach to minimums knowing that it may be the last time I see them. sheds a tear :sarcasm::D

Those Netjets guys are a cool bunch. They never seem as if they are "too good" to conversate with the lowly freight pilot.
 
Yep to all of the above. And I know it is an ignorant view, but I never really thought of fractional/charter/corporate pilots until I started working line and meeting them. It's amazing when I take a NJ crew to their hotel and discover that they used to fly in the mil or where in the airlines for decades.

Flexjet guys are also great.
