We just bought a Seneca II. The insurance company wants me to do 5 hours dual in it and 10 hours total.

Anybody here flew the Seneca II that can help me out?

I would like to know: Power settings (MP and RPM), speeds and flaps for take off and climb out, downwind, base and final. What altitude you turn Base, Final ?

I`m flying out of KCRE in Myrtle Beach.

Thanks

Alex

The Seneca is a great airplane to fly. Consult the POH, buy a checklist, and have fun. It doesn't really fly differently than any other twin you've flown.

I've been flying a 1972 Seneca out of FTY this summer...Speed wise in the pattern, we've been using 115 on downwind, 105 on base and 95 on final. 25 squared for climbout, 23 MP/24-25RPM for cruise. Been burning about 10-12 gal/hr at cruise.

That's most definitely a Seneca I. Seneca II is going to be much different in regards to engine management, as a I is naturally aspirated and a II is turbocharged.

I teach out of a Seneca II. We use 39" on takeoff and initial climb of 105mph. 31" and 2450rpm for cruise climb and about 120mph. Cruise is 25" and 2300rpm. We lean to 11gph per side in cruise. 120mph downwind 10 degrees flaps. 110mph base 25 degrees flaps. 105mph on final full flaps till landing assured then Vth at 100. If you set 14"-15" abeam your touchdown point you can fly the pattern with minimal adjustments to power and use the flaps to slow you to those speeds. Works great for us. We fly 1000ft. patterns.
