Need Ideas

N519AT

Ahh! This is how I change this!
So, I have this 100 hr block of time that I'm flying in a Cessna 150. I've flown about 25 hours of the 100 now and there is really nowhere that sounds appealing to fly to around here now. Does anyone have recommendations on fun airports/stuff to do near the airport within the circle on the map? The closer to TOL, the better because it's hard for me to get time off of work right now. The most time off I have is two days back to back. The edge of the circle is about 5.5 hours flying time, so I'd probably have to spend the night if I wanted to do anything.

Dauster Field, Creve Couer, Missouri.
Historic Waco Field, Troy, Ohio
Lee Bottom Flying Field, Hanover, IN
Beech Museum, Tullahoma, TN

I will be doing Oshkosh this year, probably not in the 150 though. I've thought about NYC.

I've thought about the big airport "experience", but I'm relatively sure that they wouldn't like a Cessna 150 coming in.
PM user "dahhcon". He went into JFK with a 172 last summer.

Sikeston, MO for a free ride to Lambert's Cafe!!! It's right on the edge of your circle, but you could maybe hit that for lunch and then bust up to Creve Couer. (Waco, did you recommend that for the museum?)

I will do that. My friend went into ORD with a Cherokee, JFK might be a bit more fun.

Don't give them a choice. Turn the transponder off and fly as low to the water as you can while heading up towards JFK. They'd be happy to see you.

Hahah, I didn't think of that. I will definitely try it and see what happens. :D

Also, any airport in the circle that allows camping on site would be cool.

Dang you took my idea... But :yeahthat:

See if they have eased the rules on the DC3 or not. Those airports used to be off limits to transients. See if they've changed that.

The museum as well as just the general atmosphere. A normal saturday at Creve Couer is like an antique/experimental flyin anywhere else.

As in the 3 in the FRZ? College park, Potomac and Hyde. I believe they allow transient traffic now, however you have to apply for a PIN and pay for a background check through one of the FSDOs down that way, and I believe sit in on a class. Its probably not an option for someone thats only going down there once, although I could be wrong.

There is the Udvar-Hazy museum at IAD.
You can walk to the Rock and Roll Hall from BKL.
Fly over Niagara falls maybe

I would say Midway, they're really great for me every time I go there ( usually in a cherokee) other than that a bit closer is KEYE in Indiana neat airport/diner right on the water.
