ok...to make a long story short, I am ready to send out the good ol resume for my first regional job but have ran into a problem. i was banking on getting with Tran State Airlines because I know a lot of people there but they are not hiring and have started to furlough some people. well, i am trying to find a regional based in the Chicago area...either Ohara or Midway but it looks like most that were based there are no longer in business. So, do any of you know a regional based in Chicago that is hiring? Thanks

Used to live in STL for about a year and if you don't mind a little commute, you could look into Chataqua or GoJet. If you are dead set on staying MDW or ORD you might look into Chicago Express/ATA or Skywest. Where are your total times at right now?

Yeah, I dont think I would ever fly for GoJet...I take that back, I would never fly for GoJets. About Chicago Express/ATA they are not around any more...chapter 11. Total times are 600 TT 300 multi. Getting the jet course out of the way with ATP in the next month or so.

American Eagle, SkyWest (probably not w/ your times), Chitaco (although that's a gamble because you don't really get to pick what "airline" you're going to work for),and I think Mesa maybe? Skyway?

ORD is for sure the most junior base right now for SkyWest on the jet side. If you have the times, I am sure the Chief Pilot et al would appreciate a non-commuter who actually wants to fly out of ORD. Unlike myself :)

Uhhhh. You may want to check with Flychicaga on this he could walk in your resume for you. :sarcasm:

Hey Jep -

Sorry. I didn't hear that ChiEx and ATA had gone under. Who picked up the routes or are they still trying to claw their way back into the black. I left STL about a year ago and hadn't really given them much thought since. My bad. American Eagle wouldn't be too bad but you might not get Chicago as your first base. Think warmer, bring shorts and an english-to-spanish dictionary.

First off, it's O'Hare. Sorry just a pet peeve of mine from a running debate with my pops, and second, instruct more.

FlyChicagalala - whatever. Sorry I didn't realize that ATA had gone under. I was living in a different market by that time and wasn't really keeping up with the news. I am only trying to help the guy find a couple of options that he would be able to investigtate on his own to make a grown up/big boy decision on his own. All I did was name a couple of companies that I knew were operating in the area the last time I was there.

FlyChicagalala? Nice.

That's fine if you want to help, but telling him to go to a semi-scab airline really isn't helping anyone. Seeing as you are on this board, you must know the history of that airline.

Actually, up until a couple of posts that I read yesterday...no, I didn't even know what the hell GoJet was other than another airline that was somehow related to TSA. Now that I've seen a couple of the other threads and your sound thrashing of my contribution, I am a little more educated about the situation and would definitely not suggest that anyone fly for them. I have just been a little busy paying dues. Getting my CFI and a job really kept me out of the loop for a while. Someday, I hope to fly for a reputable airline and make enough money to make a house payment and drive something from this millenium...I know there is no easy way to go from here to the the top and companies like GoJet just seem to take advantage of the lazy and uninformed. If it hadn't been for this website, I never would have known.
