Near miss at Midway

Looks like that was a Delta boondoggle. Then, everyone was stepping all the hell over everyone else. I wonder how close it actually came.

Thirty eight twenty eight.

Thirteen twenty eight.

Yeah, raise your hand if you've never screwed your call sign up.
Socal about a year ago... me in 2108L and a foreign student in 2018L or something similar. Cue confusion, hilarity, and frustration on my part.

There have been many times flying into MDW where the controller says southwest so fast it sounds a lot like delta.
Add in close sounding callsigns like 1328 and 3828 and you've got a recipe for this.

Sounds like he stopped them virtually immediately after they started rolling, so they probably never got within a mile of each other.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets those two mixed up. Half the time I hear ATC say Southwest, Delta reads it back, I think "hah...old fart needs to turn up his hearing aid!" but it ends up being correct.

Seriously happens once every day.
