Navajo Guys

We have a Chieftain at our operation. Solid airplane. It'll haul everything we need. I see 170kts true regularly when we run it at 30/2300/18. Our legs are usually under 2 hours so we rarely get up into the low teens with it, unless its for WX. Never had a problem with hot starts. Cold starts aren't really an issue out here.

I have extensively flown bad 402's and bad Chieftain's.

The Chieftain is a truck. It hauls more, chugs along anywhere, and drags half the ice in the Pacific Northwest along with it.

The 402 is more enjoyable and more responsive. Compared to the chieftain-truck, the 402 is one of those silly crossover vehicles, that look like an SUV but are build on a car chassis and have one microinch of ground clearance. You can put stuff in it, and it doesn't fly like a truck, but it's more delicate and will lose speed quickly in ice. On the bad days, flight plan accordingly!!

I'd rather fly a 402. I'd rather work a job in a Chieftain.

A very solid airplane. Great for cargo. The C-404 was another one that was good and tough for that kind of work.
