I can do a impression of the russian astronaut from Armageddon, does that count? I'd also need 1000 hours jet time and a masters degree in something, apparently my Aviation Sciences degree is not a "legitimate" degree. :dunno:
 
Haha, I have my eye on this for 10 years from now. Starting my masters of mechanical engineering. We'll see what school I get into. It'll probably be not a good enough school come 10 years from now.
 
I think they are having a difficult time finding astronauts these days now that the US maned space program is over.

well got the call but they want me to pay for my ride down for the interview as well a pay for training it is only 27 mil. I think I am going to do it and hope for the best.
It must be a new way to fix the budget the government is catching on.
 
Another thing they want: perfect vision. If it's not 20/20 or better without correction, don't bother. That's what fried me.

Always has been a dream of mine. Just need to figure out how I'm going to pay for that legitimate science/engineering degree...

I was really hoping Richard Branson would give me a call. I also wonder if astronauts will ever start coming from the private sector. Space X is building their Dragon capsule and possibly docking with the ISS this month with scheduled man flights for NASA down the road. I wonder if they'll ever just start hiring and training their own astronauts. Of course now that we're back to the capsule method of re-entry there really isn't much need for piloting skills I can't imagine.
