Hint: There are at least 3 dead give-aways as to the manufacturer shown (though one is upside down), then look very carefully at some of the rest of it.

I did a little link-following and found it to be this:

The PA-29 Piper Papoose

Actually, it was a plane that beat Cirrus by some 40 years, but back then the FAA didn't know what to do with it, so it could not be certified, despite it's high-strength fiberglass construction.

It is the Piper Papoose, and only one was built.

It appears that this plane was almost all but forgotten, for if you Google "Piper Papoose" the first reference to it comes from my article on the Piper Aviation Museum!

I recently received an e-mail from a gentleman who read that article and wrote me. He worked for Piper back then and was one of those who did the fiberglass work on it. He said that wing was tougher then any of the aluminum stuff they were building.

Cheechako, you win the prize. I never would have got it. FLY SAFE T.C. Add, That is a neat lookinglittle plane. Thanks Lou

The really sad thing about this plane is that it was built by Piper BEFORE Piper came out with the PA28 / Cherokee. This is not to say that such a design would have evolved into the PA28 / PA32 series that we have today, with single and twin engine versions, but it was only the FAA that stood in their way. Almost 30 years later Beech came out with the Starship, and when the FAA saw it, they required so much to be done to it that it became overweight and overpriced.

I guess the FAA conveniently "woke up" when Cirrus was looking for certification, or it took them that that long to learn new things.

That's scary!
