"MyDoom" worm making the rounds today--watch out!

Re: \"MyDoom\" worm making the rounds today--watch out!

Well, he might be screaming as he deletes all the email that's filling his mailbox! I just got another six or of them a few minutes ago. Even though the virus won't work on Macs, he still can get the email.

Ugggh.

Open file, run it, and nothing happens. Sux when these here darn computers run 50000 less programs than windows, but it is cool when all 50000 of those are virii

Filters take care of spam fairly well. Server based filters are cool when you run your own server.

Can you suggest a good server-based filter?

THE PAY FOR THE SOFTWARE METHOD

Used to work for this company a few years back:

www.surfcontrol.com

stuff worked pretty good, and I see my old boss on the local silly-con valley tech show about once a month since spam and virii are such a big deal nowadays.

THE FREE WAY TO DO IT METHOD

Here is a good quick tutorial, if you run on a *nix based system (price is right) and procmail.

And then add in this if ya want:

Anyhow, those are the two better methods I'd recommend for relative ease. Depending on what mail server you use, you may be able to add in a simple server based blacklist.
