My Rant for today

So, one of our operations are hiring, I posted it and helped one guy on here get to the CP desk and it is being looked at. So I am happy for that. But now my rant...

Received a resume and cover letter from a retiring airline pilot from a local airline (I am not assuming this is true for all pilots at this place, as I have great friends there and they would never do this). Here are some highlights from his cover letter.

...willing to self fund type rating
...don't need to make a ton of money, just want to get out of the house

I had to be stopped by my boss not to call him to ask him to go purchase type, come in and interview and then tell him to come back in 6 months to re-interview and see what other experience he has and or how much he really wants the job. Also, on a personal note, I know there will be an operator that will pick him up in no time, but I am glad my company had a good laugh and tossed his stuff.

Walmart greeter requires no type....

Won't make a ton of money

(Well I guess it requires a special type of person)

I should call and pretend I'm from Walmart and offer him the greeter position based on his resume and requirements. I also said we should offer him the general hangar position we are hiring for.

When are people gonna f'ing learn? Nothing like pilots helping pilots by undercutting your fellow cohort.

Sigh.....

The people I used to work for are hiring...

Sounds like the exact candidate that they are looking for.

Unfortunately I think this will get worse on the part 91 side as retired airline pilots who still want to fly flood the market. I know many won't want to keep working, but many will.

Too bad your boss stopped you, that would have been hilarious.

If he is retired, is willing to self-fund, and wants to keep working/flying maybe he should buy a plane and volunteer for Angel Flight, Pilots n' Paws or something like that. Seems like a much better option than undercutting other pilots for those in his situation, though admittedly more expensive.

Unfortunately it seems some never learn, at least unless someone offers to do their job for free. Even on this site, I remember a certain poster bragging about working for an aerial survey company for free to build twin time, and only a few other survey pilots and I saw anything wrong with it: http://forums.jetcareers.com/threads/twin-time.211737/ .

We should get together and buy them a bunch of Cubs or Citabrias or something.

TELL THAT GUY TO GET ANOTHER HOBBY.

Nothing makes me more mad than hearing this crap...
Seriously. When I'm old and retired the LAST thing I'll want is to do some BS flying on somebody elses timetable. I'm either buying an RV-6 or an ridiculous expensive car and tracking that thing.
