My New Ride

Murdoughnut

Well sized member
For those that don't know the story, the short version - my flying club lost our only aircraft and one of our members in a stall/spin accident back in January. After 7 months, we've finally purchased a new aircraft - and it's honestly one of the nicest non-new Skyhawks I've ever seen.

1981 Cessna 172 ...

(girl in the pics is my sister in case anyone was wondering)

Ha! I was looking at buying that airplane for a friend of mine. Very clean airplane.

Alex.

Yeah, I was amazed the first time I saw it. We ended up getting it for just over $70k after about $4k in minor squawks. Flies great too - very smooth on the controls and the tuned exhaust add on seems to give it another 5 kts in cruise. I've only checked out on it so far - looking forward to taking her on a cross country trip.

Great looking plane! I wonder how much all of those fancy avionics and that cleaned up panel cost for an older skyhawk like that?

At least it doesn't have glass. The good news is it has all the capabilities of a factory one with the benefits of less gas drains than the 747 (honestly) and you saved like 130k...

It's a sharp lookin' plane...

Very clean looking and well equipped. Congrats!

Hey Now....don't talk about the guys sister like that. Unless, of course, Murdougnut's trying to score a date for her on 'ol JC. :p

Edit: nevermind, Emu already played the joke. :insane: Obviously, we're a predictable bunch. :laff:

Ok... Just to clarify. The moving map, awesome. The engine analyzer..., boooya!

The copilot.... rockin!

P.S. I had/have a twin sister growing up. I've heard it all before too.;)

Seriously though, I'm glad to see you got some new wings.

Thanks guys - appreciate the comments.

And you don't want any part of my sister - she's about as high maintenance as a Romanian built car. The funny thing is she just turned 18 - a few months ago I would be calling you guys perverts :)

Very very nice....Though do you rent that by the tach or hobb hour? How much by the hour?

Initial fee to join is still $1,300

$120 month dues covering insurance, tie down, and annual inspection

$80 per hour on the hobbs

We used to be $100 per month/$50 wet but gas has risen quite a bit since our last plane went down.
