"My Home" and "Main Index"

Re: \"My Home\" and \"Main Index\"

I noticed the same thing this morning, I think they are switched around.

Re: \"My Home\" and \"Main Index\"

Are they switched around??

Is it too early??

I have already hit "My Home" instead of "Main Index" at least 15 times this morning.

Please, switch them back, I beg you!!

Re: \"My Home\" and \"Main Index\"

Nah, I did that this morning too (hit My Home instead of Main Index) and was very surprised to see my avatar staring back at me instead of the main page. I'm not very 'with it' in the mornings, and it took me a minute to actually read what I was clicking on!

I am, however, keeping my appointment with the looney bin. I think I need it anyway.

Re: \"My Home\" and \"Main Index\"

Did anyone notice that there is no "enter the forums" button in the main page? I have to click on a post to get in the forums.

Re: \"My Home\" and \"Main Index\"

Yeah. I've kinda been assuming that all these changes are due to having switched to Firefox yesterday. Bad timing, I guess. Now, I'm not sure what is Firefox and what is the Jetcareers changes.

Another issue I'm having is that it isn't automatically logging me in anymore. Anybody know if this is a Firefox problem (I do have it set to allow cookies)?

I don't think any of these problems are related to firefox. I've been using firefox for a few months and the forums worked perfectly.

Re: RE:

Two things:

The software gurus changed around the external forum links so the 'new posts' on the website page has changed. I'm still trying to learn the new code and 'modify' it to work like the last version. And Brian there's this big, lovely 'enter forums' graphic on the left/center of the page.

Secondly, you might want to expire cookies and then relogin. The new version handles cookies a little differently and most problems are solved with expiring cookies for the most part. Go "My Home" and then look for the 'my cookies' link towards the bottom of the page to the right of "Maintenance". Might be a Firefox thing too as I'd say a good 80% of the problems experienced on some of the special features on the site are reported from Firefox users.

Re: RE:

Hmmm, before the recent website changes, mine "account" used to jump to the first unread in any post, but not now. Also, in the "Replies" column, there were sometimes 2 numbers (the 2nd, in parenthesis, would be the # of unread posts) but the 2nd number no longer shows up. I'm running IE6.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2. I'll wait & see what happens.

Re: RE:

I turned off some of the new post tracking to see if there's a net improvement in server performance (less MySQL queries) but I'll probably end up turning full post tracking back on.

Have you tried using the "My Cookies" tool then relogging back into the forum? It might help. But if it doesn't, let me know.

Speaking of speeds, has anyone encountered an improvement in page load times since yesterday? I changed/upgraded MySQL servers mid afternoon yesterday which was supposed to promise better performance.

Re: RE:

Personally, I'm a big fan of the new post tracking. Much easy to see what's been happening since I was last on (2 minutes ago

Re: RE:

How are we supposed to know what posts and topics are unread?? They all look the same now, and it doesn't take you to the first unread post any more when you click on a topic

I need the "little light bulb" to light up and the bold unread topics, and (# new posts) to figure out what the heck i'm doing. I'm totally lost now

Re: RE:

doh!! I should have read Doug's earlier post...problem fixed now....did the "expire cookies" thingy

now all I need is the (# new posts) again, and i'll be back to normal

Re: RE:

OK. Did the "Expire Cookies" thing and logged back in, and life was good. But then I closed out IE (I use IE at work) and came back later and it's again not showing me the new messages. I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious, but I really miss the new message thing.
