My First Solo!

Finally, I finished my first solo here at UND. with 9.5 UND hours and 19 TT (from my previous flying from home, last tiem I flew was MAy 2004). I did my first solo here at UND. It was an excelletn experience, I made a few littler errors, I took off flaps to 40, I was wondering why I was at 60-70 durign climbout when I should be 80. and I turned based a little too early and there was another Warrior on final, so I went around, other than that everything went well and im back in my dorm to post on Jetcareers. Good luck to all and have a safe flying :) Over all its been a great weekend I got my Physics test up to 71 (A), I won $105 from Thief River falls Casino, and I finished my solo safely and succesfully :).

Congrats!

Sound like you had a really good week. And to top it all off...you soloed! Congrats CaptChris!

I think we might have all inadvertantly taken off with flaps. At least I know I have! Here's one for you. On my second solo flight, I went out to the local practice area to practice some manuevers. Well, while i was doing some turns, I noticed the right door wasn't latched! Opps! To make a long story short, I made it back to the field making all left turns. The tower instructed me to enter a right downwind so i requested a left downwind for "training."

Lessoned learned: Follow the checklist and ensure the doors are latched...even if you never opened it!

Woh, nice job, but be careful with those flaps next time. There are more than a few reports in the ASF site where the cause originated with a full flap departure

Congrats Chris!

Now when you're here for summer, we gotta go flying man!

Enjoy it for me...i'll be back in the air in june!:rawk:

god i wish my house wasnt directly under the approach from the SE practice areas

LOL where is that at? I'm right by truckstop. I get to hear "Tower, umm, Sioux 56 inbound ummmm, umm, via truckstop" on my airband radio and then the mighty mighty UND warrior flies by seconds later and pulls out the power to go from 2100 to 1600 feet towards Carpet.

im about 3/4 of the way to carpet, right about where everyone makes that big lazy turn to right base. damn kids, buzzing my house all the time.

btw, who pulls the power out? just push that sucker down :-p

Flaps at 40 for T.O.? Turning base to early into someone's final? Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that you recognized your mistakes and took action in time. Learn from them. The ideal thing would be to learn from the mistakes of others and not make those mistakes. :sitaware: Situational awarness is key. :sitaware:

Congratulations Chris!!!! One more PIC sharing the skies.
