My first Hudson River Exclusion Flight

Took my instructor and a friend on the Hudson Transition earlier today. Photos are mostly courtesy of my passenger, unfortunately he isn't much of a photographer, and I didn't exactly set the camera up properly, so the focus in some shots could be sharper :(

If my FBO ever decides to take this sign down, I hope to hang it in my garage.

Sounds like you had good trip. Next time swing deeper to Joyzee. How did you call yourself in the Corridor and what time it was?

Great photos. I've flown that exclusion so many times, but I never really had time to take in the sights. Did you fly out of Mattituck?

The traffic call was something like "Hudson Traffic, Skyhawk, Alpine Tower, one-thousand one-hundred southbound."

Not sure of the exact time but it was around 11:00 local Wednesday Morning. Pretty sure the liveATC feed was down this morning.

I will definitely make a trip out your way when I am checked out, which should be in a couple weeks. I've completed all the required training, just a matter making sure I have all the maneuvers up to the PTS and then scheduling a check ride.

I fly out of ISP. I didn't have much time to take in the sights either, my PX took all the photos except for the Mattituck sign. It wasn't all that busy, we only saw one opposite direction fixed wing, and another announcing a few minutes behind me. There were three or four helicopters while in the corridor, but over all, not that busy.

Brings back memories I instructed at Teterboro and did those a couple times a day sometimes on discovery flights. Down the Hudson, around the Statue of Liberty, up the East River and across Central Park back to Teterboro.

New rules since that mid-air between the helicopter and piper, overflights are supposed to be 1000-1299. If you are southbound you are supposed exit the cooridor, descend to 900 or below and go back if you want to circle the statue. If you're intentions are to fly the east river in a fixed wing land plane, you need a clearance from LGA prior to Governors Island. Pretty sure that rule dates back to Cory Lidle's crash.
