Coming back from CRG today, I was flying by DeLand. Got to watch them drop a bunch of jumpers at 5000 then climb up to 13,500 to drop more. Pretty cool seeing it from 4,500 ft. Too bad I didn't have the camera with me.

There is a large parachute factory there, and their jumpers test canopies all the time from 5,000'. Pretty common to have a Performance Designs employee doing a "hop-n-pop" from 5k on the way up to altitude.

Do you jump, JAM?

Scott Miller (of PD) also does a lot of canopy training, so if a bunch got out at 5k, that could also be what was going on.

I did my training and a good chunck of my jumps at DeLand...what a cool place. Lots of pros around, and everyone is super friendly (and the manifest girls are hot!). Some of the best memories of my life so far are from that place.

I never did care for the Porter, but the SkyVan is sweeeet. By far my favorite plane to jump out of.

Oh yeah...and for you nay sayers- there is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane! Or at least, I have yet to see one.
