Per Jerry Atkin today in recurrent, 22 brasilias will be phased out of the LAX system very shortly. United has decided to take them away. Some service will be replaced by RJ's already on property.

Secondly, DEN will be losing 40 lines to mainline United. Does everyone have a seat? Cuz the music is stopping for now.

Any idea why they'd phase the Bro's out of LAX? I know they're older aircraft, are many of them coming up on heavy checks?

Lax wants them back in the box... UAL doesn't want to pay for the shuttle, so they are going to take those planes and "go home".

Does this mean that if I apply in November I got no shot or are they still hiring for the forseeable future. This post has officially scared the ####e out of me. I have the times to apply but can't until mid November. Tell me what to expect please Someone? ANYONE?

LAX wants the Turbo props out of the main concourses, parking at a remote terminal (not so affectionately known as the box). This parking requires a shuttle service between the remote and the main concourse, LAX expects UAL to cover this cost, and UAL is not willing to pay.

How much does 2 busses and a couple of contract drivers cost? Come on. There is no way that jets can come close to being economic on the inter-California flying. UA then can use the freed up gate space for expansion with jets.

Then again that makes perfect logical sense. The problem is that the airlines are required to determine what makes perfect logical sense....and do the exact opposite of that.

American doesn't seem to have a problem running busses.

Don't worry so much...Who knows what this means for SKWY, it's not even official info. If it does, it may mean a couple of months of no hiring, but rest assured Skywest will hire again soon. Too much attrition going on for them not to need newbies.

Honestly, what you can expect is the unexpected. This is the airline business. Keep doing what you're doing, be happy, and be flexible. Most importantly, keep your resume updated and your options open. I admit I'm watching closely, but I always try to remember that everything happens for a reason. My entire career so far is anecdotal evidence of that fact.

So what does UA plan on using for smaller airports like CRQ? I usually fly DL into LAX and get an ID90 on UA to get home to CLD. I'm either going to have to just go into SAN or get an ID90 on HP out of PHX.

Ahh the airline business. If this is scary to some, there are far FAR scarier things in this business!

Never, repeat, never put all your eggs in one basket, especially in the airline industry. Think about all those kids who grew up wanting only to be Eastern or Pan Am pilots.
